deuce the thing that scared me with what you just said was the fact that most of hius sacks came in bunches in a couple of games. maybe that actually goes with exactly what you just saiud. damn you whodi for being right. god i hate having to admit that

lol not all the time but you have gotten me a couple of times. not that i was a huge supporter of williams because the pick never made sense to me. i didn't know until you started saying it though how much hype this guy is. you nailed this one for sure

There are a lot of reasons to fall in love with North Carolina State defensive end Mario Williams, who in the weeks leading up to the draft has been compared at various times to Pro Football Hall of Fame end Reggie White (maybe some hyperbole there), and current league stars Julius Peppers and Richard Seymour. Primary among the many attributes Williams possesses are tremendous "triangle numbers," the term scouts employ to refer to height, weight and 40-yard time. Williams is a physical freak, checking in at 6-feet-7 and 295 pounds, and having been clocked in the low-4.7s by most teams. But here are some numbers that give teams pause: Williams played in 36 games for the Wolfpack, but had sacks in just 16 of those contests. Of his 24ÃƒÂ‚Ã‚Â½ career sacks, 13 of them came in four games. He had three of his six sacks in 2004 in a terrific performance against Florida State. In 2005, 10 of his 14ÃƒÂ‚Ã‚Â½ quarterback takedowns came in multi-sack games against Wake Forest (three), Southern Mississippi (three) and Maryland (four).

His supporters argue, and justifiably so, that a lot of great pass-rushers collect sacks in bunches. True enough. The few detractors, who insist there are some holes in Williams' game, point out that he didn't always face great tackles in the ACC. And they add that, with teammates such as end Manny Lawson and tackle John McCargo on the same front four unit, Williams should have been more consistently dominant. Some Houston Texans assistants, not surprisingly led by defensive line aide Bob Karmelowicz, are said to be leading the lobbying for the team to choose Williams with the top overall pick on Saturday afternoon. But the Texans scouts aren't 100 percent sold yet that Williams will have an immediate impact in the league. A couple scouts from other teams noted to ESPN.com this week, when asked about comparisons between Williams and Peppers, that the Carolina Panthers star struggled early in his rookie campaign. Our counter: Maybe so, but he still finished that 2002 season with a dozen sacks.

I just saw the most probable NFL Mock Draft on NFL Total Access, and it didn't come from a so-called ESPN NFL expert, it was from an Atlanta CB. He said the Saints WILL select DAS BRICKS(German I think LOL) because he didn't think it would be a smart move after the Saints have two Very consistant DEs. He should know, he actually sees them twice a year.

I don't know if Lawson is better, but he is definitely a good player. He and Mccargo are predicted to go first day. That's apretty solid d-line right there for Williams to be so booty in big games.

Good point whodi. I don't think that you can say that Lawson is better, but I definitely think that he helped Mario out, and it should say something about Williams that he wasn't able to get more sacks in the ACC with such nasty D Line help.
