"Talk about a story, huh?" Andersen told ESPN.com when reminded of next Monday night's upcoming visit to the Superdome. "We should all get a lot of miles out of that one. If you [media] guys can't make that a story, you ought to retire."

I love the guy for everything he has done for the New Orleans Saints. Come Monday, though, I wish he and his team the worst luck in the world.

RE: Morten Anderson to Kick for Falcons Monday

I used to bartend down at Igor's on St. Charles. I met Morten in there one night. He partied for a few hours. I was a big fan, felt pretty stoked to have him there, so I comp'd half of his drinks that night. But he acted kind of pompous that night. Then he stiffed me when he walked out.

So I'm not exactly a big Morten fan anymore.

He's baaaaaaaaack... and older than ever.

FOXSports.com has learned that the Falcons have signed the ageless wonder Morten Andersen to be their kicker this week. That's the same Morten Andersen drafted one year before Dan Marino and John Elway.
Andersen, 46, began his career as a fourth-round pick in 1982 of the Saints, the team he'll face off against in his first game back. He's played for the Saints, Falcons, Chiefs, Giants and Vikings, his previous stop in 2004. A lifetime 80-percent field-goal kicker, Andersen has amassed an amazing 2,358 points in his career.

The Falcons had been using their punter, Michael Koenen, as their kicker, but he was just two of eight this year in field-goal tries and the team decided to go with ol' reliable, a man with a relationship to the Falcons. He has agreed to a one-year deal. Terms have yet to be disclosed.

Funny how old mistakes come back to haunt you. This cut by the saints years ago was one of the worse moves we made in our history. Here is another, of the very few, that will end up in the Hall Fame. We miss treated him for what (?) a few thousands and one year additional on a contract? Funny how when we complain of the players we let get away his name hardly mentioned.

I meet him in Wisconin, at a local sandwich shop, during the saints cheese league days. He was in the last year of his contract and said back then he did not see himself in a saints uniform next year. He said it was not his wish but the lack of respect he was getting from the front office. He gave us an autogragh and left, after about 15 minutes of talking mostly to my son. When we left the restraunt, he not only paid our bill and left a generous tip, but he left a signed rookie card for my son. He went to the sports store next door and bought one. He had a postive effect he had on my son life. I still hear him once while comparing the "Important / Famous People" he meets to Mort. They are messured against this meeting years ago. I always smile when he says " They are no Mort thats for sure" I think twice has he put anybody up there with him. He is a class act.

I hope he gets a standing ovation that tears the roof off the Dome.
