Defensive Schemes

Ok, I don't know alot about the nuts and bolts of game planning and what not. So I'll ask ya'll.

I think we all agree that Bill P is a pretty good coach. SO:

On the boys first drive, JJ peels off 77 yards for the TD. But they never really tried running again. WHY?

Was our defense stacked to stop the run (something we've been not great at). WHy if your team has run well against a team that doesn't stop the run well, why, wouldn't you continue to run?

Don't ge me wrong, I love the WIN, I'm just curious what we did that forced them to throw?

How 'bout them Saints!!!!!

RE: Defensive Schemes

I think it was more of a Chess move by Dallas to try and catch the Saints defense looking to stop the run since it was established early that the Saints defense would have to respect the run. Dallas did try to re-establish the run game, but 3rd-n-long`s put them in passing situations. Then trailing by 2 scores Dallas was looking for the "big play" to put them back in the game. So basically, Dallas' run game got shutdown, they got behind so they went to the air to catch up, that got shutdown too. The pass that TO scored on was a fluke, it was a deflected pass that should have been an interception. The final score should`ve been 49-10

RE: Defensive Schemes

Yeah they really tried picking on Fred Thomas and it worked one time by a fluke play caused by Freddy's cast....Not a good plan in my opinion to play catchup...

RE: Defensive Schemes

That one carry by Jones aside, the Cowboys gained 39 yards on 15 carries. The game was so out of hand that there was no reason to run since they weren't getting anything out of it.
