Cool N.O. Saints WR Poll

With Marques Colston, Devery Henderson, Terrance Copper, and Robert Meachem just about assured a roster spot, and the Saints keeping 6 or 7 receivers. Which two or three will make the final roster spots?

15 McKnight, Rhema WR 6-1 211 23 R Notre Dame

81 Patten, David WR 5-10 190 32 11 Western Carolina

89 Jones, Jamal WR 5-11 205 26 2 North Carolina A&T

16 Moore, Lance WR 5-9 177 23 2 Toledo

88 Ridgeway, Dante WR 6-1 200 23 2 Ball State

note: I didn't include the two newly signed guys because we all know they're nothing more than camp bodies. The smiles are my picks.

Went with Patten & Jones as the 2. McKnight would be my choice for third. I think with the youth of Colston, Henderson and Meacham I see them going with the 2 players with the most experience and/or team knowledge (ala Jones from last year).

I thought Moore would replace Beer Man, so I went with him. Patten is trying to start, so he's pretty much a lock to make the team.

I'd love to see Patten as the starter- would mean he is 100% and back in the form from a few years ago. He would be another leader in the huddle and on the field- something Henderson won't be for at least a few years.

The word i get is that Patton is a lock to make it, unless injuries creep back up on him...Lance Moore has a solid chance to make due to his speed and return skills. It is going to be an uphill battle for Jones and McKnight.

I think McKnight has great hands, runs decent routes, and the one thing he do excellent is block down field, this kid will decleat a DB in a minute, it's embedded in his mentality, and I think that attitude is the reason he may stick around.

Considering that we often use 3 wide sets, Patten should get his looks. I'd say Patten is just the type of crafty vet we can dispatch to exploit zone holes, and ply his trade in the slot. I was buckin for Keyshawn, due to this reason. It's almost a given that Patten will abuse anyone left to cover him, after Ds account for our other threats.

I really don't know how Ds can deal with Colston lined up opposite DH, Deuce in the backfield, and Johnson able to chip and sneak out for a quick 10. I'm not even counting sets with Matrix wandering around before the snap. He occupies a couple of defenders, even if he runs a 15 yard out for the hell of it. He creates space.

The wild card is Meachem. He may prove to be hungry, and do dirt like Donte did as a rookie. So many weapons. Only one ball. What a man po to do? Cool Brees may break his own records.

19 Henderson, Devery WR 5-11 200 25 4 Louisiana State*
81 Patten, David WR 5-10 190 32 11 Western Carolina*
12 Colston, Marques WR 6-4 231 24 2 Hofstra*
89 Jones, Jamal WR 5-11 205 26 2 North Carolina A&T*
16 Moore, Lance WR 5-9 177 23 2 Toledo

When I look at the roster, I think McKnight has an excellent chance of making the squad.
