Gumbo, what are you talking about \"The Chargers??\"
Their secondary has more holes in it than the Saints of last year.
They made a good pick up with Boston, and they still have Thomlinson. But other than that, they aren\'t too good this year. They will need at least another year or two to mature and bond.

That defense is gonna come into its own this year. Peppers is gonna lead the league in Sacks. But remember that defense shined last year b/c of the poor offense hence their over blown stats due to being on the field the whole game. Not taking anything away from them, just citing the fact their stats also must reflect the help they received from a poor offense. I think they\'ll finish 7-9 only due to a tough division. If they were in any other division they\'d have a shot at finishing 2nd.
Defense shined because of poor offense? Correct me if I\'m wrong here, but, since the defense was on the field more doesn\'t that mean that should have done worse? Considering that they should have been worn out from being on the field all the time, plus the opposing offense had more opportunites to make plays.

The offense did nothing but skew the stats of the defense in a negitive direction.

Where do I start here. First of all you stated that the defense shined because of a poor offense. I\'m simply trying to note that all a poor offense can do is hurt the overall defensive rankingof a team. If the offense puts the defense back on the field, then it\'s only going to allow more yardage and points to be added to the overall defensive stats.

If your talking about individual stats, then yeah, it would give more opportunites for an individual player to add to his stats, but this does nothing to show that the Panthers defense was overrated. Instead it shows that they would have been even better, if they had an offense that could keep them out of harms way.

The Panthers would be a very scary team if they had an offense that was halfway decent, because the defense could really dominate.
