a lot of hate for a guy who would be playing at 6'5" 350 lbs

the dude is giant, even when he gets blocked, he still wins the battle. if he stalemates the offensive linemen then he wins the battle.

there isnt a guy in the league right now who could block him consistantly and he would greatly increase our ability to stop the run. that would be a huge advantage in a division that runs the ball more than any other division in football

everyone in our division runs the ball to set up the pass. we stop the run and we make them 1 dimensional. everybody knows how deadly we are on defense when we know they are passing

I wouldn't mind keeping McCray, and drafting a huge DT. I agree Canton. Cody is going to have to keep his weight in check though. He looked terrible in those pictures at the Senior Bowl.

I think McCray should be re-signed. He looked good coming off the edge, and he showed up big in the play offs.

Thats why he would be awesome in a 3-4 defense. He's like a hole plugger. In a 4-3 defense its a bit different, its more about penetration and quickness along with plugging. Not sure he works out well in that scheme. Wasn't really hating on him, just saying you can't force someone to do things they aren't built to do. I don't think he has the build or is in good enough shape to do that. I could be wrong though.

McCray is definitely a keeper.

I say, sign as many of our key players, as possible first, before even considering any other FAs. They earned it, in my opinion.

Now, remember, I said "key" players....

there are 2 reasons defensive linemen in 3-4s are bigger......1 of them is because there are less of them so they need to take up more space

the 2nd reason is because the defensive linemen need to occupy more blockers so the blitzers can get through

now this season, as a team that runs a base 4-3, we blitzed 49% of the time our defense was on the field. that means we blitzed 2nd most in the entire league behind only the jets.

not only could he stuff the run all by himself, but he would also be able to occupy 2 blockers at a time leaving will smith 1 on 1 as well as a blitzing LB or CB completely unblocked. that is why i want him so badly.

if we played the gary gibbs defense then cody would be a terrible pick because he would have to move, but as a blitzing 4-3 defense, he could occupy 2 gaps and control the line while allowing more options to blitz

Papz - clever, now I see...always using your brain.

Grant for Peppers? I see that some of us still have not sobered up from Sunday. LOL There's no way he stays in Carolina to begin with, so say bye bye to playing him twice a year. And I repeat "he didn't do squat against us anyway.

Reggie will be in New Orleans for a few more years. Don't think so? Then just refer back to what Payton was able to do with Devery Henderson. You know, the guy who now can't drop a pass to save his life...

Reggie will rework his deal and continue to improve. Watch.

We won't have the turnover everyone expects in 2010.

My biggest fear is losing coaches.

No Question Grant has to geaux; at this stage, he's a 1.5 mil backup per year with legal troubles, nothing more...

The Peppers signing would create poor chemistry on defense; geaux young and draft and conservative spending in FA at DE...

But the Reggie comments are dead on!

Reggie can't be kept at this current projected salary...

But he's got to be smart and realize his best value is to stay put in Payton's offense and make the marketing money on a winning team...

Sir, are you aware of the number of free agents we have going into an upcapped year?

Be interesting to see if Benson pulls the purse strings back now that he's got the Lombardi (well two if you count the QB coach)...

Hope Ms Rita is ready to take the reigns and figure out a way to keep this market competitive like Pittsburgh has managed to do so...

Did I say we need Defensive Tackle"s"? Love the Role Players but we need a monster in da middle

A new starting Defensive End? Grant's Gotta Geaux!

A Strong Safety (and possibly) a Free Safety with Sharper a FA? Jenkins, Vaughn enough?

An outside linebacker to groom behind Fujita and Shanle...

A Left Tackle (not sure Jammal is going to stay with no leverage)...

A Center (Goodwin struggled at times)...

And a Wide Receiver?!?

Re: 2010 NFL Draft

I see what you are saying about FA, but at the same time, with this final eight rule, the only players we really can concentrate on are the ones already in our ranks.

Out of all of them, I think Fujita, is most likely the one to go, because word from the Saints is, that Sharper will be one of the first we lock up.

I'm curious why you think we need another WR?
