Darren Sharper getting interest from other teams; Saints re-sign one of their own; Boldin traded

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; On this, I truly trust the FO. I'd have to agree. That front office and coaching staff did just win us a Super Bowl, last I checked. I like Sharper. I hope he stays. Pierson Proleau is pretty darn good ...

I like Sharper. I hope he stays.

Pierson Proleau is pretty darn good too.

One thing is proven, season after season. There is no loyalty in
the NFL. It is a business first and foremost, not a friendship.

I've never had or needed an agent, so I'm shooting from the hip. His 10% has to be a great motivating factor in the expert advice he gives his clients. If Sharper wants to stay, and the offer is a good offer: should be the end of the story. Sharper is very comfortable sitting in the cut in Greg Williams' defense. Not many other places he could go and do what we position him to do week in and week out (ala Reggie). I've seen Sharper "late" and trying to run a youngster down after the fact: looked a lot like McKenzie. He fits our schemes well and his instincts were of great value this year. Even though money makes the monkey dance, it can also ruin a good thing. I hope he doesn't get convinced to go elsewhere and end up in a place that doesn't polish his accomplishments this late in his career. At some point money has to take a back seat. Sounds real good when its not MY money.

I am a firm believer in the idea, that IF you perform well, then you deserve a certain amount of accolades. Sharper DID his job. Did he make mistakes? Yes, he did, but he made more plays, than he missed. That alone, warrants an amount of respect, when it comes to resigning. We're not talking about a guy who got burned in the superbowl for a touchdown. (Osama Young) We're not talking about a guy who gave up a sack, for a fumble, that lost us the game against the Cowboys. (Bushrod) Unless I've missed something in the games this year, I didn't see many mistakes by Sharper. He played his heart out, and made plays, when we needed them most. I'm not saying break the bank to thank him, but you certainly don't tell him, "Go ahead and see what else you can get somewhere else." When I go to buy a car, or any other major purchase, that statement alone, makes me WANT to buy it somewhere else, because that's the salesman, being a cocky sob, that is basically telling me, "I don't care if you buy from me or not."

Telling Sharper, to test the free agency, TO ME, seemed like a complete snub from the powers that be, basically saying the same exact thing.

With that said, I understand that these guys know more about what they are doing than I do, so whatever will be, will be. But we as fans, cannot get butt hurt, when our star players have no loyalty to the organization, and leave, when it's obvious, that the organization has no loyalty towards them. Many players have left, and done great things, and many of us hate them for it. But right now, you are getting a taste, of WHY these guys have no loyalty anymore.

Everyone on this planet has an idea of what they think they are worth, no matter what they do for a living, and having some "expert", tell you that you are not, doesn't, and SHOULDN'T change that belief.

I hate to see Sharper leave if he does, but if he does, after all of this, I won't hate him, or smack talk him, because I can understand why he did.

What's popular is not always right, and what's right is not always popular.....
