I wonder if Amaya is practice squad eligible ... I suppose he would have to clear waivers to get there.

From ESPN: I wouldnít go reading too much into the Amaya acquisition. He might have some upside, but he appeared in only 10 games as a backup last season. At best, he can begin his time with the Saints as a backup safety and special-teams player.
Meh.... well.............

So basically we gave him to the Dolphins, that's what it looks like.
Wow, what a deal! (with extreme sarcasm)

At least we get something; the alternative was: we were going to have to release him and get nothing... He was not going to restructure with us

Amaya may have something to say about that. I hope he says it on the field and has us speaking a new tune.

Considering we only have Jenkins under contract as a safety you can almost surely count on Amaya making the squad. He did lead the Dolphins in special team's tackles last season.

I read that many considered him Miami's best special teams player.

I think this spells the end for Reis and/or Prioloux.

We are loading up on players with solid special teams reputations and potential.

Yup. I agree. Special teams were lacking severely last year. I'm also hoping we can pull the trigger on Danieal Manning at SS. As much as I like Harper, there's no guarantee we can re-sign him and Manning could handle the punt return duties which Reggie left behind.
