Updating previous reports, according to The Associated Press, the San Francisco 49ers have released RB Garrison Hearst. The move saved San Francisco $1.5 million against the salary cap. Hearst, an 11-year veteran, has rushed for 2,946 yards over the past three seasons. He had been with the 49ers since 1997.

I don't know if I like him as a backup to Deuce or not. I'd be willing to bet that his days as a starter are over though.

I still like Stacy Mack as a short yardage back I think.

Hearst is a much greater receiving threat out of the backfield in my opinion and mor of a slasher/dancer than Deuce. He could be a good addition, but only if he comes really cheap. Otherwise, stick with Carter and Banks.
