Conversation with my wife
My darling wife who has trouble really understanding the game but is as passionate about the Saints as I am asked a series of simple questions about this whole thing
She: Did we really hurt anybody? Me: Uhh no... Brett Favre had a badly strained ankle She: Don't they have rules for late hits?" Me; Uhhh yea they do She: Well then why didn't the officials (she called them umpires bless her heart) throw a flag? Me: Uhhh Well because the hits were not illegal She: Didn't some guy on another team get suspended for dirty play? Me: Yea there have been a few guys that have been She: How many of our guys got suspended for dirty play? Uhhh well none She: Oh ok... So what again is it that we did wrong??? Me: Uhh well you see we had this bounty system that well.. uhh.. you see we talked about.... and there were...well you see we lied about some things.... I don't know... watch your damned Lifetime Channel.... you are too logical for all of this She: Well if all guys were suspended for lying.. Me... Don't go there |

This is so true. I understand that the defense used this bount system as a motivation tool in the locker room, but was anyone ever really get rewarded for these types of hits? Did any ever really occur?

she makes perfect sense and puts it all in perspective....
but then we have to throw in the blasted Liability/cover your ass angle that the NFL is doing. all this really is is the NFL covering their ass. |
