They said that it would be decided right at the end of preseason, based on evaluations and how they are feeling. Which is why everything you read about Kromer is not confirmed, but he is of course a really strong contender. I want to believe they may still look at bringing somebody in from the outside, but the more time goes by, it would be a very difficult situation for a coach to walk in to, to come in and coach after not having been there in camp and not knowing the players or the playbook or the scheme or anything else.
Remember, Dude, we have an extra preseason game more than everybody else, to work on all this. I think it's more likely they will try Kromer instead of Vitt in a preseason game, game 3 or 4, and just not tell anybody they are doing it, until after. Like the same way they didn't tell us that Carmichael was calling all the plays and was the voice in Drew's helmet, until after they started doing it that way.
As for the season, I look at it like this. If we end up being a bumpy 3-3 or 4-2 when Vitt and Loomis and whoever else come back, it is not going to be the end of the world. We can still right the ship and get hot in the playoffs. It's very important that people not freak out early in the year when things are going to be the toughest. If things aren't going well, I am NOT going to freak out until well into November. The Broncos/Falcons/49ers/Falcons/Giants segment of the schedule is where the real meat is.
