NEW ORLEANS — Herm Edwards has seen it happen before.

So has Joe Horn, or at least something close to it.

Edwards was the coach of the 2002 New York Jets, one of five NFL teams since 1990 which started the season 1-4 but still make the playoffs.

Horn was the top receiver for the 2000 Saints, who started their season 1-3 before they won five straight and wound up 10-6, winning the NFC West along with the first playoff game in the franchise’s history.

And both see it possible for the 1-4 Saints of 2012 to make a similar turnaround.

Horn, as might be expected, is the more optimistic of the two.

“It’s not what your record is,” said Horn, who played for the Saints from 2000-06. “It’s all about the guys in the locker room.

“They know they’ve got a mountain to climb, but it’s like Drew Brees said, you do it rock by rock. Those guys still believe in themselves.”

We win 5 games and we are Division Champs... And they don't have to be in a row...

Don't mean you go to the playoffs by winning just division games. Still have to have a better overall record than the other teams in your division.

Division Champ is determined by Division record. Division Champs go to playoffs.

Division Champs is not determined by best over all or Conference record.

I am digging in now.. And with the possibility that you are right... WTF is the point of divisions of the divisional record means zip?

Divisional games are tie-breakers. The best overall record wins the division.

I'll be unbearably optimistic if we win these next two. It looks like the last wildcard in the NFC is probably gonna be around 9-7 (I'm still not sold on Minnesota and Arizona).

9-7 may require some 3-way tiebreakers to help us in, but 10-6 might do it all by itself.

1st things 1st, lets win a few in a row starting with Tampa, Denver and Philly.

Divisions need to go away... I am not comfortable sitting in the same virtual room as Falcons fans. I find my self wishing I had a fanny pack or putting my wallet in my sock.
