Saints' secondary will not be downfall of this team

In terms of pure talent at CB, we are not the most talented. Ambrose appears (and I say appears because of how we wrote Bellamy off last year) to be the weak link. But if Ambrose does play as bad as he\'s looked he WILL NOT be starting.

Behind Ambrose we have some aveverag guys that have some potential.

My point is simply that we can still finish in the top 10 (not saying we will but that we can) in defense this year. It\'s been done time and time again by teams with average secondaries. Mainly due to having a great pass rush. I don\'t think I\'m stretching it too much when I say we should have one of the better pass rushes in the league. Some might disagree, but we\'ll see.

Of coure we have to be able to stop the run or it really won\'t matter. I\'ve been encouraged by our run defense. I can\'t say we\'ll be able to stop the run, but if we do, our pass rush should make our secondary much better than a lot of folks anticipate.

Am I being optimisitc? No, because I know things could go wrong. But I understand that the peices are in place for all those things to happen.

Some want to point at the linebackers as the weak link. And that is a BIG concern for me too. But, they will benefit if the D-line is stronger this year. IMO, the D-lines inability to keep blockers of the linebackers has hurt tremendously.

And our linebackers have the speed and size to get the job done. They also know the system.

It\'s no secret that this defense has a tremendous challenge ahead of them to improve upon last years ranking.

The only thing I can say for sure is a strong pass rush can make the most average secondary look great.

Culpepper to Moss : Yeah I saw that , I am thinking career day here .

Moss to Culpepper : I know they play football a little differently in New Orleans but they are covering me with a smurf , hall of fame here I come ........

Will Smith (This guy is going to get some sack this year.)
I thought this guy was a straight shooter? I guess it doesn\'t matter. As long as he plays well on defense I won\'t let his personal life affect my opinions of him.

LMAO !! OK, I\'m really starting to get worried about some of you guys. I caught that when I posted it but was too lazy to fix it. I KNEW someone would take it and run with it.

I think the regular season can\'t get here soon enough... :P

thats true, but i dont think we can stop the run... to stop the run u need good linebackers and a push from the middle and until sullivan proves his worth then we just dont have that.... while i like our Dline and the rush we will get from them i still think that we wont stop anyone from running it down our throat.
I totally agree with Pak on this. Our LB unit isn\'t in shouting distance of being like the dome patrol. Our guys might be adequate (even though I\'m geeked about the possibility of Watson turning into a very good player). I just haven\'t got any confidence in our LB\'s to hold up at the point of attack or keep RB\'s out of the secondary. I get this sick feeling every time a RB gets more than 2 yards of the line of scrimmage, because they have a better than average chance of ripping off a long gain.
