Rob Ryan notes

The guys has never coached alongside an offensive machine like ours. The best he had was Tony "Late Game" Turnover last year and that offense was 15th in scoring. *The Saints, under Payton have finished no higher than 12th in scoring offense with 4 top-5 finishes.

In 9 years Rob Ryan is.............
27-10 with an 8 pt. or more lead,
29 times he's allowed less than 21 points,
#1 pass defense in 2006 (Rookie Michael Huff, Stuart Schwiegert, Asomugha, Routt).
He has had 4 years in the top 15 rushing yards allowed.
4 years top 10 in Ints.*
6 years top 15 passing TDs allowed

In Rob Ryan's career*(144 games)
12 games allowing 10 pts. or less
56 games allowing 21 pts. or less (39%)
83 games allowing 24 pts. or less (58%)

I think that's good considering coaching alongside inept offenses for 7 years in Oakland and Cleveland for 7 years.

Sean Payton's Career (104 games including playoffs)
15-0 when opps. score 10 or less (100%)
42-4 when opps. score 21 or less (91%)
53-9 when opps. score 24 or less (85%)

Payton and Ryan would be*
12-0, 51-5, and 71-8 by this analysis with Rob Ryan as his DC.

Rob Ryan may not be the greatest coordinator in the NFL but we don't need him to be. If he can get our defense to perform on average, of what he has done in all his other coaching stops, we'll be fine. As far as personnel our D looked best when GW used a 3-man line IMHO.*

I JUST WANNA HEAR IT...." GO SAINTS ALL THE WAY SAINTS GO ALL THE WAAAAY GO SAINTS ALL THE WAY SAINTS GO ALL THE WAAAAY ( I BELIEVE)!!!!!!! GOD I LOVE THAT SONG!!!!!!

Re: Rob Ryan notes

Exactly

We dont need ryan to ressurect the dome patrol (although it would be nice)
We just need an average defense and we'll be good

I mean we won 7 games with the worst defense in NFL history
Just think of the games we threw away at the end with shoddy play on defense - KC (partly brees' fault) green bay, carolina panthers x2,

Winning those games would have us at 11-5, not to mention shoddy offensive play threw away the 49er game when we had a 17 point lead

Re: Rob Ryan notes

I agree, we don't need a revist of the Dome Patrol.

We need one that can hang tight, pressure the QB, get a couple of turnovers and most of all...hold the house together when Drew (ala the offense) is in struggle mode.

The rest will take care of itself.

Re: Rob Ryan notes

I just hope he can get the most out of the players. I think Martez Wilson can be a stud on the edge, Lofton is a tackling machine, Cam Jordan is coming along, Akeem Hicks is a solid rock on the line and if he can get anything significant out of our DBs he's going to Canton!

I do not think with coaches, length of contract matter as much with players. You can fire him any time you like with out having to worry about cap space or if someone will pick them up. If its 1 year and it works out you give him 4 more years, if its 20 years and he doesn't work out you fire him after 1 year.

For Sean Paytons contract the length of time does not matter in the firing regards because he is a proven asset, it does define how long 31 other teams can not talk to him.
