I love me some Porter - smart enough to know what was coming and make a play on Manning in the SB. What an amazing moment in my life, for real.

But I agree with the greater football minds here. I think we've got better players now. We're gonna rock the teens with our defensive ranking this year, fo sho. Our recent problems have been due to a scheme that didn't fit the people we had and took away their ability (and desire) to be aggressive.

I don't think White, Carr, or Sweeting (eventhough I love his potential as well as White's) would be a starter on any other team in the NFL. Porter is going to start for the Raiders, and I don't believe the people I mentioned would. Just my thoughts though...

If we could stop SOME of the average teams and marginal players we encounter from making HUGE plays, we would be better.

If we could cut big yardage plays to allowing one big play every other game we would be improved.

These are terribly low expectations, similar to asking a 5th grade kid to make all D's and D+'s on his report card so he would be considered a genius.

Seriously, last years performance on defense by the Saints was one of the worst I've ever seen in ALL of football ever. And yes Spags disserved every bit of being FIRED! 3 nuns and my labrador retriever could have stopped teams better than if we had 13 defenders on the damn field last season!

What we have on board has not seen much of effective pass rush in a while. Lets see what they can do when every QB we face doesn't have 5 minutes to have a sammich and complete a pass.

I doubt Porter starts in Oakland, and Carr started for the Ravens 2 years ago.

Porter would be at best a 4th or 5th CB and you need those guys to play special teams. White, Carr and Sweeting are much better suited for that.

I'm 99% sure Porter doesn't make this roster.

Porter was a starter last year for the Broncos. But I want to see what White us going to do.

Porter "played" in 6 total games last season with Denver... Not sure how much of a starter that is?

Ok I found it... He started in 4 games...
