I thought it was a really good afternoon for us. A number of the statistics were favorable. I thought third down particularly, I thought we got them off the field. After that first drive, we were outstanding. We got enough pressure on the quarterback to help us on the back end. Offensively, there was a little bit of adjusting going on, a lot of five-man rush and jammed up front making it difficult to run. I thought Drew (Brees) was really good, a lot of man coverage and our guys got some of the matchups we were looking for. The other thing I liked, I thought in the second half we created some field position in the kicking game and we finished this game the way we like to. We thought that was a good team we were playing and they are much improved. Right now we have a little time with the different schedule this week; we dont play until next Monday night. It was a good, hard fought win and Im proud of our guys.

(on Cam Jordan and rest of defensive line) We felt coming in that defensively they were a team that had been really stout against the run and they were a team that had been pretty good with their takeaways. One of our goals in this game was to win that battle and put pressure on the quarterback, in other words our defense against their offense and their offense against our defense. We had enough disruption that it made it more challenging for the quarterback and that can lead to accuracy issue and that can lead to the interception that Kenny (Vaccaro) had, which was overthrown. I thought we were active and that helped us a lot.

(on being 3-0) Its early, but we are pleased with the start. We had two close games to start and this one we handled the second half well. It was good for us to keep our defense off the field. I havent seen the time of possession yet, but its a good start. There are some things well look at. Im sure as there is every week there will be some things you want to look at and clean up and get corrected.

Quotes from Drew Brees and players postgame press conferences

QB #9 DREW BREES

(on if team is starting to form an identity) Yes, I believe so. We will continue to build that and watch that grow as they season goes on. While there are a lot of familiar faces who have been in the program for some time, we have some new players who are playing some pretty significant roles on the team. I think it is just a matter of time on task and coming together. Its not until you start playing games and battling together and finding ways to win, fight through adversity, counting on each other and all of those things that you find out about your team.

We won the first two weeks in nail biter situations. We talked all week about finishing. Today, we were successful in that regard as we outscored our opponent 14-0 in the fourth quarter. We need to continue to find ways to win. Hopefully, we can continue to get better and gain confidence and momentum.

(on scoring a touchdown) Its funny because that play happened exactly like that in practice this week. Coach says what happens in practice usually happens in the games. Thats a good thing for all of us to recognize. It makes you realize that they way that you draw it up is the way that you visualize it. You arent going to see that all that often. It was a critical point in the game because it gave us a three-possession distance from our opponent. It was a big momentum shift to be able to get that third in long in the red zone to start the fourth quarter.

WR #17 ROBERT MEACHEM

We just have to take it one game and one practice at time. We dont need to jump ahead or look back. We have a lot of young guys. Anything can happen. We have to take it one game and practice at a time.

(on his touchdown catch) The touchdown catch was great. The only problem was that I thought Jimmy (Graham) was supposed to jump and take it. He said the same thing. If he would have jumped, then he would have had three touchdowns. It felt so good to score. I was kind of mad at myself because I had a ritual when I was here. I used to toss the ball underhand to the fans. I really should have kept that ball. That ball meant a lot to me, but some fan got it.

new orleans saintsTE #80 JIMMY GRAHAM

(on his first touchdown) It was something that we had coming out of the huddle. Its a look that (Drew Brees) wants and he alerts me in the huddle. Its just run, jump and get it. Thats just what we do and I was lucky enough to catch it.

(on winning comfortably) People forget how physical and tough it is in our division. Every divisional opponent is very, very tough. You dont really know what team you have yet after the first couple of games. Youre trying to figure yourself out and what you do best and what you need to work on. Most of the games in the division are like that. We really talked about finishing before the game. We havent been finishing games in the fourth quarter, at least offensively. Today in the fourth quarter, we were able to finish.

DE #94 CAMERON JORDAN

(on getting pressure on the quarterback) We were able to get pressure and get back there. We had a depth to our defensive line, which is always amazing. We have a lot of youth and talent on the defensive line.

(on responding after giving up an early touchdown) Thats owed to the linebackers. We put emphasis on forgetting about the prior series. We just have to keep playing football like we know how to play. We did a phenomenal job to responding to that. We just have to keep it rolling.

LB #50 CURTIS LOFTON

(on getting quarterback pressure) My hat goes off to the defensive line. They get together. They study film. They find out what works and what doesnt work for them. They stay extra after (practice) working on their games and working on their rushes. That makes it a lot easier for us when we can drop people back because of the four man rush. We dont have to blitz and thats a great feeling.

(on the defensive fronts they got against the run) Im not concerned, we just rushed for (104) yards and it was a decision. Its hard for me to sit up here and diagram the defense for you, but we made some changes early in the first half when we kept seeing that what we were getting was a five-man rush and heavy fronts. It was just about us being smart. Some of those shorter passes were the equivalent of us plays that would have been runs. Our quarterback has a great command of what we were wanting to do. We feel like we have a lot of options for him and fortunately we were able to get to the options.

(on how much man-to-man coverage Saints saw) We saw a lot of it. With Jimmy (Graham), unlike the receivers, a receiver is going to get a corner for the most part. Marques (Colston) got a couple linebackers because of the formation we were in, but Jimmy is like a joker player for us sometimes. Hell draw safeties, sometimes hell draw a corner, he drew (Tyrann Mathieu) the nickel. Hes the guy that oftentimes can tell you what coverage you are getting by who ends up on him. He was on a safety on his first touchdown, we got that a lot.

(on the turnovers) That was good winning the turnover battle, we value it obviously. Its important. It was great to see two interceptions and the guys were able to handle the football.
