We will draft a QB in the first round either this year or next. My guess would be next.

This depends on how many years Brees has left.

I don't remember what game it was this year, but one of the commentators said he talked to Brees, and Brees said that he believes he still has 5 years left in him.

If that really is the case, and we can have Brees for another 5, I don't see us drafting his successor this year or next unless we want a situation similar to Favre and ARod.

Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?

I am looking at picking around 28 and expect most of the media darlings gone by the time we pick. listed loosely by round for each position.

- OLB/ILB versatile with coverage skills -

Christian Jones, ILB/OLB/DE, Florida State
6032 232 4.64

ranked as the #1 ILB by some
ranked as the #6 OLB by many
among the best DE in the nation this year.
Arguably the best coverage LB in college
Potential is off the meter - completely going against my nature

Am i really so high on a Fla. St. player? i guess so. brake out the skates hell has officially frozen over.

Yawin Smallwood* ILB/OLB Connecticut
6025 236 4.68
He is a traditional 34 thumper ILB. Coverage skills are solid enough

Telvin Smith OLB/ILB Florida ST
6022 218 4.60
He is a wild man that makes up for size with attitude.

Boseko Lokombo OLB/ILB Oregon

6024 230 4.62/4.52
fantastic all-around athlete very interesting project

- WR that likes running routes in the middle of the field -

Jarvis Landry WR LSU

5114 195 4.49

silky-smooth dual-threat, toughness to go over the middle Love his attitude

Cody Hoffman, WR BYU
6024 215 4.56

Z - a big possession receiver , excellent hands, excels at short and intermediate routes crossing the field and on out routes along the sideline.

Mr Enigma
L'Damian Washington WR, Mizzu
6035 205 4.39/4.30
Calvin Johson build and speed yet lazy route runings. football IQ ?

- OL solid addition to up grade depth/starter -

Morgan Moses, ROT/OG Virginia

6056 325 5.28

going basically un noticed or shown little respect by most of the media scouting darlings. monster of man with outrageous athlete set that has the speed and coordination to pull to the outside like a guard.

Weston Richburg OC/OG/OT Colorado State

6035 302 5.18/5.04
One of the top OC in college over the past three years

Tyler Larsen, OC, Utah State, (#58)

6035 312 5.17

Vyncent Jones OC/OG Utah
6031 305 5.23
Man loves pancakes. Versatile interior lineman.

Matt Hall, OT, Belhaven"Matt Hall"
6085 325 5.38
NFL right tackle written all over him?

-RB that can run catch and block - draft has some nice ones -

James White RB Wisconsin

5096 195 4.52/4.42

here is the darrin sproles of the 2014 draft.

- DL depth -

DeAndre Coleman, DT/DE, California
6045 315 5.12/4.96
strong and suprisingly quick

Shamar Stephen DT/DE Conneticut

6045 313 5.14
impressive quickness and pursuit ability for his size.

Small school steal in the draft?
Zach Kerr, DT, Delaware
6012 322 5.12
size/athletic ability, football IQ and leadership

- Secondary always - not crazy about round 1 opt at CB tackling is key

Ed Reynolds, FS/SS Stanford
6015 206 4.54/4.43
has not declared yet. we need a ball hawk and cap issues may mean we are looking for a cheaper option

Aaron Colvin CB Oaklahoma
5115 192 4.48/4.38
way to much talent to over look at this point in the draft

#1 project player
Stanley Jean-Baptiste CB/WR/S Nebraska #16
6022 220 4.46/4.56
a converted wide receiver with legit ball skills here

Ty Zimmerman, Kansas State FS/SS/WR
6011 204 4.57/4.46
He may not dazzle you but he is a solid all around FS

Small school steal in the draft?
Jordan Love, CB, Towson
5116 182 4.53/1.42
He’ appears to be a pure corner with excellent man-to-man cover skills at this level. interesting upside with the kid

just to name the main ones that have caught my eye for the draft that kinda adress area of need in my book. there are others but trying to keep it short ;)

I don't think drafting a WR in the first round is a good idea, they are pretty much hit or miss, I don't know if you guys have forgotten but we get Joe Morgan back next year. He was looking to have a big year before he tore his ACL. It depends how far Terron Armsted has grown as an NFL OL, so either OT, OLB, or CB in the first round

There is only 5 Hall of Fame WR selected in the first round, there is 4 in the fourth round

I agree we don't need a WR in the first round or second but I think drafting one is a area on offense that can be looked for in the draft possibly 3rd rd.

Corner and OL or LB is the spots I see needed in rounds 1 and 2

A true ILB could go a long way, a safety and the rest for the O. Payton will shore up the O-line for Brees to do his thing in this draft, his turn.
