Re: Jerry Jones crying about Seattle
"A team like Seattle, who basically played a style that would risk a holding penalty as opposed to not having an aggressive defender back there," Jones said, per Fox Sports Southwest. "That got a lot of complaints, and you're seeing it [called] during the preseason."

Re: Jerry Jones crying about Seattle
I don't think it was the refs. Something changed, yes, they make the calls but somebody had to be telling them to change their determination standards. I firmly believe that because it went from one standard to a different one rather quickly and not just Seattle. They were calling a lot of games like that late in the season.

I agree. And I think the refs are overdoing the yellow flags in preseason to make the point. Hopefully, we don't get a play without a penalty then 5 plays with penalty in the regular season.

Saw a crazy stat after week 2 of preseason
Thru all 16 games last year, there were 37 illegal contact penalties accepted in the entire NFL Through only 2 weeks of pre-season this year there have been 27. |

Re: Jerry Jones crying about Seattle
I hate Seattle getting so much pub. This only adds to their machismo. Even if they cheated the whole way, apparently they won't get away with it anymore. Dallas and the Redskins weren't winning anyway. It's time now to shut up and play football.

Saw the same thing in the NBA years ago with the Detroit Pistons and their maul and brawl defense (i.e. Laimbeer, Rodman et al)...
It seemed accepted by the NBA referees that was going to be the style of play and they got away with some real dirty play... |

Re: Jerry Jones crying about Seattle
What really ate Godell's goat was when THE Wall Street Journal had a huge article on the massive blatant defensive holding
I think this more than anything led to this big change in emphasis It will be interesting to see which teams are held to a looser or tighter standard |
