Seattle Seahawks Defense Ranks Dead Last on Third Downs

Opposing offenses are converting 55 percent (16-of-29) of their third-down opportunities against Seattle’s “Legion of Boom.” That’s an insanely high number for a unit that allowed offenses to convert just 35 percent of their third-down opportunities last season. One of the primary reasons for this is the fact that quarterbacks are completing 74 percent of their passes when targeting Byron Maxwell and Richard Sherman.

Ha! Awesome -- I want to see a bunch of TD passes go Sherman's way this season. He desperately needs a good a** whippin' -- and then one from his Mama.

I really don't think Seattle is going to be anywhere near the team they were last year.

That's because Rivers carved them up last game. They also had no pass rush, and without one, it doesn't matter who is in the secondary.

The smaller quicker receivers seem to match up well against him now.

When we play Seattle in the playoffs, maybe big mouth will need a heavy dose of Brandin Cooks. That'll shut him up.

First 4 weeks of the season.... Defenses start coming together.

2013 Carolina Panthers went 0-2 and their vaunted defense in week 2 allowed Buffalo to put up 430 yards on them and the Seahawks put up 370 in Carolina in week 1.

It takes a little time, defenses have seen no one but their own offense to start the season and there is no tape to game plan around.
