"Time to step up, time to play," Lelito said Monday. "I prepare every week like I might start in case anything happens throughout the week. There's never any time in the NFL where you can say, 'Well, I'm a backup, so I really don't have to prepare at all. That's how it goes.

"Y'all know coach (Sean Payton's) motto: Failure to prepare is preparing to fail."

Lelito, a former undrafted free agent, has spent most of the first three weeks serving as a backup guard-center. Now it's his turn to play on offense.

Goodwin with a high ankle sprain could be out for awhile, that injury has a tendency to linger...

I didn't think Lelito looked too bad after he came in. Hopefully, he'll keep up the good work until Goodwin is able to fully recover.
