With the 16th pick in the draft, my pick would be Ronnie Brown from Auburn. Ronnie is 6’1 224. He runs about a 4.45- 40.

Picking Ronnie would allow the Saints to run the ball 40 times per game. Just think, Deuce gets 25 carries, then Ronnie gets 15. This would cripple opposing teams. This would instantly make the defense and Brooks much better. The Saints could control the ball much longer, eliminate many of Brooks mistakes, keep the defense off the field, and prevent an injury from killing the team. Lets face it, the Saints winning streak at the end of the season was all about running the ball. It was all about Deuce being healthy again. Now, add another stud RB to the mix, and look out! With the blocking of Karney, this could all work out fine.

EGO would never allow this plan to work. (See 2004 Buffalo Bills)

This is a radical idea and it might be the sort of thing that works on paper, but I don\'t think the reality is there for the end result.

Yeah -- and with that strategy the defenses would put 10 men on the line of scrimmage -- stop the run and make AB beat them. I think our best bet is to have a stifling defense -- if they draft any offensive skill position in the first 2 rounds I would then say we have hit rock bottom on our draft selections

If Deuce doesn\'t start taking off-season conditioning seriously we may have to pick a RB pretty high. He appears to be slowing down, and he\'s injury prone. I don\'t think its silly for a RB to be on our radar screen at all. Maybe not 1st round but in my humble opinion, Deuce is becoming a question mark. The more people ignore it the less likely he\'s gonna change.
He\'s has top 5 talent, top 5 heart, but apparently bottom 5 off-season conditioning habits. He\'s turning into Shaun Alexander.

I agree Danno - Decue needs to return to form. That said, with the line we\'ve got, I can\'t blame Deuce for want to get bigger. It\'s not like he\'s sprinting through big holes, and he is still shifty. That run at the end of the season where he couldn\'t outrun Conwell - you never know. Maybe his ankles were still bothering him. Maybe he was still out of shape from being mostly off for half a season. Maybe he was winded before the play. Who knows??

I think Deuce will be OK. If the Saints can improve their line, he\'ll get back to 1600 yards. One thing that has been overlooked about those last 4 games was how much more effectively Deuce ran the ball and how much more involved he was. We don\'t need another RB yet - but I agree with Danno - another year or two of this out of Deuce and the Saints may need to look at other options. Let me just clarify. I think Deuce is the long-term solution at RB for the Saints. I think he will return to form and he is a top 5 or so talent. I want him to acheive and end up retiring a Saint with Hall of Fame numbers... but he does need to step it up for 2005.

Oh, my bad.... CLEARLY you have an agenda Danno. You hate Deuce, why don\'t you just admit it? Deuce had a terrible year and he still had over 1,000 yards. That\'s not OK but Brooks\' crap play is? Why don\'t you just admit that you\'re trying to cover up for Brooks by making excuses and attacking Deuce?
