Saints players eligible for the Practice Squad
54 New Orleans Saints eligible for 10-man practice squad with cuts looming next week | NOLA.com
Many are only elible for the two "exception" spots Players who don't make the main roster are waived (or, in the case of veterans, their contracts are terminated) and can be claimed by any team. After the waiver period ends, teams can build a 10-player practice squad from any eligible free agents. Practice squad players aren't protected and can be signed to the active roster of another club at any time. Generally, players are allowed up to three seasons on the practice squad (six games counts as one season) as long as they have not accrued one season of free agency credit (six games on the active roster, IR or PUP list). Up to two players with no more than three accrued seasons can be given an exception. (This is how players like Vaccaro and Armstead are technically eligible). Finally, players who spent fewer than nine games on the 46-man roster during each of their accrued seasons don't have to use an exception. (This is how someone like fullback Austin Johnson has unrestricted practice-squad eligibility. He has an accrued season, but spent fewer than nine games on the 46-man roster in 2014).

So are you saying Brandin Cooks is practice squad material?

Re: Saints players eligible for the Practice Squad
Griffin is an interesting case. I don't see him clearing waivers. The kid has learned from the best of the best for a couple years so I'm 100% positive another team will claim him. I imagine we'll be signing a new practice squad QB.

Re: Saints players eligible for the Practice Squad
but he's cleared waivers for two years now. Other than the Rams in '13, no one else has shown interest

I hope we keep Griffin and Grayson and cut McCown.
