Pre Combine Draft Wish List

2012 NFL Offseason
Ok start off with our players:
Big Buck Keepers
Drew Bress - everything hindges on this deal
Carl Nicks - lets hope Drew takes front end deal or we may loose him. maybe another 1 year deal? then long term?
Will the dollars be around?
Marques Colston - injuries kill him
Robert Meachem - flash in the pan
This is the biggest effect on the draft i think. What will happen?
Reasonable
Aubrayo Franklin - Has not gotten the reps to ask for much
Fabian Washington - solid 5th/6th CB
Now to look at the open market.
Still looking for that WLB but FA and the draft have little to offer as of now. But two have jumped out at me.
SLB - Manny Lawson - In a 4-3 defense? As a strong-side backer in Cinncy he has proven to be better than 3-4 backer in the 49ers system. 2011 one-year, $3 million contract? we could not fit him in? God knows what market will charge for his services.
Nick Hardwick (SD) - OC - he's still a solid center with good size, strength, and football IQ.
Question will be how will Drew and Nicks structure their contracts?
Step 2 - Next years draft.
Round 1 traded - so far i am still scratching my head on the move. I can scratch a few more years till i pass judgement. So far not bad.
Round 2 - OLB
Travis Lewis, OLB, Oklahoma
Height: 6-2. Weight: 232.
Projected 40 Time: 4.50
Can play either SLB or WLB
Matt Reynolds, OT, BYU maybe? I am torn on this pick
Round 3 - DT/DE
Derek Wolfe, DE/DT, Cincinnati
Height: 6-5. Weight: 302.
Projected 40 Time: 4.92
Flexibility to play either a 3-4 or a 4-3 defense.
Round 4 - DE to groom
Jake Bequette, DE, Arkansas
Height: 6-4. Weight: 271.
Projected 40 Time: 4.62
Potiental for improvement is there. Converted TE is a plus
Round 5 - Massive RT/OG
Alex Hurst, OT, LSU
Height: 6-6. Weight: 340.
Projected 40 Time: 5.19
Want to get the running game to improve. this would be a steal in round 5
Round 6a. Washington → New Orleans (PD) - OLB
Dexter Heyman OLB, Louisville
Height: 6-3. Weight:238.
Projected 40 Time: 4.57
Athletic linebacker that flashes skill making plays sideline to sideline. Talk about a talented project. wish i could find more tape on him. Well worth the 6th round pick to develop. Instant hit on special teams.
6b - Blocking TE
Michael Williams, TE, Alabama
Height: 6-6. Weight: 270.
Projected 40 Time: 4.77
I really would be shocked if he is here in the sixth, He has better hands than most would think. A bulldozer of TE. I really want this player! Saints get one of the best traditional TE in recent drafts. I see his stock sky rocketing with combines and pro day work outs.
Round 7 - Developmental Center
Scott Wedige, C, Northern Illinois
Height: 6-4. Weight: 314.
Projected 40 Time: 5.18
I have watched the kid play a couple of times. I would love to see him there in the seventh but i believe he will go earlier but for now i have to go with pre draft rankings. Most do not mention him.
Undetermined Pick:
Miami → New Orleans (PD). Miami traded an undisclosed selection to New Orleans for running back Reggie Bush.
The players I would love the saints to make a move on?
Cam Johnson DE, Virgina
Ok who falls like a ton of bricks in the draft?
My vote goes to Mr. Druken TMZ Video King:
Marc Tyler, RB, USC
Height: 5-11. Weight: 230.
Projected 40 Time: 4.58
Tyler quote of the year was "USC aka University of Sexual Ballers"
Ok for those that know me your shaking your heads in disbelief that i have not selected an OT. The reason is simple. The best of the OT are JRs. So with the new CBA in place i do not see many Jr making the jump to pro ball. So the price seems to be high for OT in a thin year, Only one sr OT has my eye, Matt Reynolds, OT, BYU and it will be interesting to see where he lands in the draft.

I like the Derek Wolfe pick. Here's what I've been hoping for...
Round 2: T DJ Fluker (If he comes out)
Round 3: LB Donta Hightower
Round 4: DE/DT Jared Crick (Derek Wolfe works for me too)
Round 4: TE Coby Fleener (The assumed pick for Bush)
Round 5: S Robert Lester (Should fall after torn ACL)
Round 6: RB/WR/KR/PR Chris Rainey (Wanted to draft him for a couple of years to replace Bush)
Round 7: WR Quinton Patton (Assuming he comes out. Could be a gem.)
Picking up a pass rush tweener sounds good to me too. A Vinny Curry-type in the middle rounds.Posted 12-08-2011 at 11:31 PM by jcp026 -

Devin Taylor*, DE/OLB, South Carolina is one Jr i hope comes out.
Weak secondary for the complete package. once again Jr are the key and even then most should stay in school for another year.
there is
Winston Guy Jr., S, Kentucky
Height: 6-1. Weight: 210.
Projected 40 Time: 4.49
Sean Baker, S, Ball State
Height: 6-1. Weight: 200.
Projected 40 Time: 4.55
TE Coby Fleener is tempting. i could accept 2 TE in the draft
Chris Rainey hmmmm i look at him to go higherPosted 12-11-2011 at 10:41 AM by hagan714

well lets see here..
Round 1 = Blank
Round2 = a few Possible moves here... No doubt we will have a late round pick... We need to fill in the LB spot real bad...
so for 2nd round I might suggest so theres 3 I have my eye on.
1) Brandon Jenkins DE/OLB... Fla St.2)Bruce Irvan DE/ OLB W. Virginia..3) Travis Lewis OLB Oklahoma..
Round 3 = well we can go a few ways here.. have a couple of Favorites
1) Michael Brewster C Ohio St.. we seem to have good luck drafting Ohio State players..2) Keenan Robinson OLB Texas..3) Robert Lester S Alabama... might be a good spot to pick this guy up if he's there..
I will add rest of picks at a later date...Posted 12-11-2011 at 06:19 PM by crawgator -

Maybe we can look at a potential big play wide receiver in the middle of the draft. It seems like our big play/quick strike ability has been lacking.
WR Jarius Wright ARK 5'10" 180lbs
63 catches 1029 yards 11 TDsPosted 12-14-2011 at 10:09 PM by jcp026 -

Round 3- Jarius Wright
Round 4- Coby Fleener
Round 4- Jared Crick
Round 5- Derek Wolfe

Drafty
Rick Reiprish, the mastermind behind the WAR ROOM on draft day, is interviewing for GM jobs. He's been around since the '05 draft and our roster has built from then like crazy.... happy for him and the nod to the Saints talent, but nervous for our drafts!!Posted 01-08-2012 at 12:35 AM by saintsknowit -
I had Cam Johnson DE, Virgina as the player i would move up to get but i have changed my mind after watching him play more.
Bruce Irvin, OLB 6- 2 245, is a very interesting prospect. combine will move him up the boards to the top of the 2nd and maybe even into the first. his interviews may drop him into the third. He is a tweener OLB/DE i would love to see at WLB teamed with Martez Wilson at SLB. Speed speed and more speed with great football skills. 34 vs 43 who cares with his skill set.
Dontari Poe, DT 6-5 350lbs declared hmmm combine will make him or break him.
Round 2-
Donta Hightower - ILB ? really? he will be long gone
Vinny Curry - interesting off the board. over hyped?
Round 3- Jarius Wright - jitter bug still looking at him.
Round 4- Coby Fleener - maybe in the 2nd
Round 4- Jared Crick - in the 4th? mid second round
Round 5- Derek Wolfe - in the 5th? steal
Rounds 6 and 7- Your CallPosted 01-11-2012 at 10:53 PM by hagan714 -
Everson Griffen had a first round rating and fell to the fouth. Charles Brown had a first round rating and fell to the bottom of the second. Cam Thomas was expected to go in the second and fell to the fifth.
Locker and Ponder went at the top of the first. Tyson Alualu went at the top of the first. TIM TEBOW WENT IN THE FIRST ROUND!
Injury and character issues push players down: Da'Quan Bowers and Mike Williams.
GMs try to outsmart the room and make questionable picks in the first round and continue to do so in every other round. Good players, for what ever reason, fall.
I'd be surprised if Hightower fell, but stranger things have happened. I'd be surprised if Crick was available in the fourth, but he did miss most of the year with injury...There is also the possibility that Hightower, Fleener, Crick and Wolfe are stupid and fall because of that.Posted 01-12-2012 at 04:22 AM by jcp026 -

I heard Mel Kiper on the radio last night say that he thought Hightower would go in the second or third round.
