2015 Saints Bye Week Draft
How to right the ship in the 2015 draft. So I have options in each round till the end when thing get a bit muddled in the 6th and 7th rounds
Round 1 Top 15? I have faith SP will right this ship so
Benardrick McKinney* ILB/OLB Mississippi State 6042 245 4.58
ok pet fav and he does scare me a bit. is he yet another LB coming out of college that has played to many position? i say risk it. upside looks to be endless. Sorry guys like this do not come around that often you have to take him. He appears to be the whole package
on the offensive side i am not there yet too many Back Injury issues? foot injury issue? and such to be answered for a pick here.
Round 2
Kevin Johnson CB Wake Forest 6002 175 4.49
smooth, explosive, speed, agility, length and productive. coming out of wake forest is hurting him. this kid can play. he is an impact player not getting the respect he deserves. by combine time he might be getting first round grades across the board
Carl Davis DT Iowa 6045 315 5.12
this is not your typical lard bucket that you find at DT at this size. This kid is built from head to toe. Plays with attitude quickness and power. He maybe the best DT in the draft
Round 3
A.J. Johnson ILB Tennessee 6020 242 4.79
Ok nothing flashy here. I really like his ability to move in open space. He is one of the better solid ILB against the run, Pass defense needs some work. I think he will be the next ILB that slides a bit in the draft just like in the last few years.
Charles Gaines CB/KR Louisville 5106 175 4.48
I love this kids game. needs to work on run support but talk about having a knack be a game changer, it is there. he seems to have his head screwed on right for CB also. One play at a time.
Round 4
TJ Clemmings OT/OG Pittsburgh 6051 305 5.14
DT to OL due to injuries and the key word is UPSIDE here. Good foot work ,solid strength and a great frame to build on. Just a solid all around player with aestheticism and solid potential to develop.
Javorius “Buck” Allen, RB, USC, 6005 220 4.54
The well-rounded back of the draft. deceptively powerful runner, a good receiver and solid blocker. Ok i am going Roger Craig type of skill set here. Think Ingrams running style with PT third down finesse all rolled into one. Put him under PT wing for a year. First three down back the saints have had in years. maybe?
Round 5
Justin Cox, FS/CB Mississippi State 6014 190 4.54
Tall lean and solid coverage skills. needs to work on tackling skills but in the 5th he could turn out to be a steal. I expect his ratings to climb by seasons end. late 2 maybe
Rannell Hall WR/KR UCF 6005 200 (4.38 - 4.48)
here is a guy that loves playing between the hash marks and has that quick speedy style of running to handle return duties. having good hands is plus also that is what a # 4/5 WR is for.
Round 6 - pre combine freak hunt is on.
Lynden Trail DE/OLB/TE Norfork St. 6062 260 4.57 - 4.67
transfer from Florida. 6-foot-7 frame In two seasons with the Spartans he has 164 tackles and 14.5 sacks, 14 deflected passes and 3 TD catches. Mike-Vrabel-like versatility ? i had to laugh a bit when i read that one. but every year we throw a pick at players like this. Too Tall Jones clone?
Jared Roberts K Colorado State
best ranked kicker in the draft
Vince Mayle WR Washington State 6025 219 4.52
Speed is good and like Jimmy being yet another basketball convert makes you wonder. pass routes are pretty good and he does have a nice set of hands. blocking is not bad either
Round 7 - Best of the rest?
Le'Raven Clark OT/OG Texas Tech 6045 320 5.03
Solid foot work and nice speed. But needs a ton of work. Texas Tech runs one of those funky offenses were he is asked to bail and pass block in a hurry. But there is a skill set here. right now he might be the OL that is a surprise pick in the draft. that has a chance of going higher than any one expects
Xavier Williams, DT, Northern Iowa 6032 309 5.08 - 5.18
big, physical and active. last season 74 tackles, 5.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss; 5 blocked kicks in the 2012 season, a former high school wrestler who understands leverage. plays with attitude
Honorable Mentions
B.J. Finney C/OG Kansas State 6036 303 5.28
Interesting prospect. Serviceable any where on the interior OL. every team needs a couple of them
Jake Smith, LOG/ROG/OC Louisville
Yet another Serviceable player any where on the interior OL
