At this writing, US consumption of petroleum based products for energy purposes (as opposed to some of the non-energy chemicals like plastics and fertilizers) is roughly 97% of total output. That means that all other sources make up 3%. Solar, wind, nukular (hah) and geothermal are a growing, but...

The freak show we are presented with in this election cycle distracts from the real intent of the purpose of democratic elections. It matters not one whit whether we like or dislike one or more of the candidates because they're a shrew or a douche, or we whether we would want to "have a beer" with them. The candidates don't need to "get you" as a person. These elections, as have been all elections, are about the policies that will be pursued and the laws that will be enacted...

We should absolutely curb international free trade. As a practicing economist, I study stupid, as in stupid policies that impede progress and growth. I am convinced after years of active examination that free trade harms the most vulnerable of us - the incompetent. If we truly live in a society that prizes social justice and fairness, it is appalling that we consistently and relentlessly create policies and forge international agreements that harm those who are unwilling to be economically relevant....

Why.

If you are going to be successful at anything in life, you must answer why you are doing what you are doing. "What", while important, is not motivating. "How", again, critical to success, but it's not enough. If you have no unifying vision of why you do what you do, there will be no commitment, no sacrifice, no struggle, and ultimately, no success.
