Les not MORE
After the end of the LSU v Ole Miss game, watching LSU shuffling around like idiots because they couldn't get either the kick team in or decide to throw a quick touchdown, I've lost my love for Les.
When the call was made to have Jordan Jefferson "Spike It' with 1 second left AFTER the whistle... LSU's Head Coach Les Miles has taken several steps backward in my mind. They were unprepared. I have been a staunch defender of Les. I thought he was a great coach and a positive speaker. After today, I see him in a totally different light. He seems disorganized, out of touch with the game, and not paying attention. How many unnecessary timeouts in the Alabama game? Could be Gary Crowton, but the Head Coach is ultimately responsible. |

Re: Les not MORE
Wow, Merry Christmas Ole Miss! There really is no excuse for losing a game in that fashion. Even the announcers knew what to do. I have to agree with you Halo.

What a revelation it is, I guess ... truth be told ... if we had a decent QB, it shouldn't be that close .. still... if it is ... you gotta be prepared to know what to do ... frustrating as it is, we may have seen the maturing of Jordan Jefferson, whom Les did not have enough confidence in to let loose in all of the previous losses this year. Next year may prove once and for all the worthiness of Les Miles as the head football coach of LSU. There is much talent returning and a perennial top ten recruiting class. He'll get his chance of course. But there is no doubt that there is indeed doubt as to Les Miles' tenure at LSU in light of the deserved increased expectations!

Re: Les not MORE
Ole Miss outplayed LSU so much that the refs couldn't figure out a way to hand it to them. At the end there they were going, "OK...go ahead and take it!" and Miles was countering, "No...I don't want it!"
Seriously, though...it was a great game and personally I think that Ole Miss was the more talented team last night. That's not to take anything away from LSU, who appears to have a bright future. I hope my bias is not showing too badly, here, but I just call 'em as I see 'em. Admittedly, over the last few decades LSU has been the more talented team, but here lately, Ole Miss has beaten the bushes to come up with some pretty talented players. They had 2 first rounders last year go to the NFL and a 3rd rounder who is playing like a 1st rounder in Pittsburgh. btw...I like our new coach better (well, I guess he's not that new)..and I bet you guys feel like a "Nutt" right about now...no? |
Whether you think you can or think you can't...you're right!

The better team won. It shouldn't have come down to that. I thought we had won too, but the refs wanted to start the clock after the 1st down. Oh well... at least it didn't happen to the Saints.
Still a Tiger fan. |

Re: Les not MORE
The better team did win yesterday, not to be confused with the most talented team. Lsu is def more talented, just isn't as well coached as Ole Miss.
As far as the clock mgmt(or lack of) in the last minute...in the words of Donald Trump "you're fired" |

Re: Les not MORE
I have two quick points to make.
Point #1 - Miles was trying to call timeout on the sideline before the clock hit 9 seconds. Point #2 - The spike was not called by Miles. When asked about it as they were leaving the field you could see in his eyes that he was pissed when he said, "you can't spike the ball with one second on the clock." During the postgame press-conference, Miles said he didn't know which assistant made the call. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who. Here's a hint: he's the only other coach with a direct line of communication with the QB. |
Proponents of higher-order theories of consciousness argue that consciousness is explained by the relation between two levels of mental states in which a higher-order mental state takes another mental state. If you mention this to Chuck Norris, expect an explosive roundhouse kick to the face for spouting too much fancy-talk.
