To me it really seems unfair that a person could honestly earn a scholarship for something other than athletics and be penalized for it. They solved one problem, but created another, IMO. I really don't know if those rules still apply today, but I think that if they still do, it would be good for a person to know that if he earns a scholarship in another area, don't even think about trying out for the team unless you think you're good enough to earn a scholarship for that sport as well. It's a good thing that "Rudy" was a true walk-on or otherwise he would have never had an opportunity to play in that last game. |
Whether you think you can or think you can't...you're right!

saint lb, it is horrible what you've been thru bro.like saintfan said someone needs to write that story up big time. its gutwrenching i can back u up when you said not if there was, u knew there was going to be accident. the premonition holds truth. been there done that. and i were the lucky one also.now on the scholarship. just to think of what may have changed your history if they grant you that scholarship. sounds to me you had that job for 4 years. like you said if only the word would have spread to alumi. would you have done what it took to kick nomatter how it came about. anyway great story and seems you have a wonderful life to boot.

Great story ... those rules suck .... God only knows what might have been ... Ole Miss could and should have given you a scholarship ... bunch of wusses.
The Bama player, btw .. ruled ineligible... Report: Alabama DE Marcell Dareus declared ineligible after agent trip - CFB News - FOX Sports on MSN | |

saint_lb,
I LOVE the story! Would love to publish it... it's just awesome. Also, it shows how the poop crap NCAA rules make life hell in college. At LSU there were football players married with Kids living in a married dorm, not able to pay bills, rent etc. Wonder why they seek ways to make money? And LSU makes MILLIONS from football and can't even spiff these guys and gals. Sucks. |
