LSU confirms it: Les Miles, Cam Cameron out at LSU; Ed Orgeron to be Tigers' interim coach, Pete Jenkins to join staff

Les Miles is out as football coach at LSU, and so is his offensive coordinator.

The school confirmed The Advocate's earlier report that Miles and Cam Cameron were fired Sunday, a day after LSU, ranked No. 5 in the preseason Top 25, fell to 2-2 with an 18-13 loss at Auburn. It's the worst start to a season since Miles took over in 2005.

Defensive line coach Ed Orgeron will be introduced to the team as LSU’s interim coach at a 5 p.m. meeting, LSU confirmed.. Orgeron and LSU deputy athletic director Verge Ausberry were seen entering the football operations complex at 3:35 p.m. Ausberry declined comment.

The decision to oust Cameron and Miles was made Sunday afternoon in a discussion involving LSU athletic director Joe Alleva, school president F. King Alexander and other university leaders. A source said Miles met with Alleva between 2:30-3:30 p.m. and took the news of his dismissal "well." Alleva was seen being driven to the LSU football complex at 3:40 p.m.

Alleva and Orgeron will attend a news conference Monday at 12:30 p.m., the program's regularly scheduled weekly conference.

Ed Orgeron should get real and serious consideration...

Man can recruit defensive line and he knows good up and coming offensive coaches...

Mile has been a good HC for LSU, one of the most successful ever but it was time. The inability to find or develop a decent QB for the better part of the last 10 years is just baffling and IMHO what finally became his undoing.
