A Who-Dat's answer to the Economy and Debt Crisis

Since now even the S&P knows and openly acknowledges the fact that Republicans and Democrats will NEVER get along and reach any constructive or productive agreement, here's my solution ...

- Rather than working together, Washington Dem's and Washington GOP need to start working apart from each other. No contact or discussion between Washington Dem's and Washington GOP will be allowed during any time a representative is in office. Not even for a beer after hours. Senators and Congressmen now meet separately based solely on their party affiliation since we all know that there is, to use a football analogy, "too many men on the field". Have you ever seen the Saints offense and defense on the field at the same time during a regular season game?! That is the madness we have on Capitol Hill!

- The Washington Democrats get assigned to tax reform. They get to close all the ugly loopholes, exceptions and capital gains tax shelters. They get to reform and simplify the tax code to ensure that everyone pays their fair share. They can look at FairTax if they like. Progressive taxation is put back in place and the wealthy elite and corporations pay according to the high brackets that they belong in. They put safeguards in place and continue to ensure that taxes are never cut or raised AGAIN. This is what liberals are great at.

- The Washington GOP gets assigned to entitlement reform and to streamline Social Security. They get to control the waste and excess and take the excess socialism out of these programs. They fight to get medical and program costs back under control. They are not allowed to eliminate any entitlement programs altogether, but they have the authority to strip them back down to where they came from when FDR or whomever first introduced them. They also put safeguards in place to make sure they don't grow out of control AGAIN. This is what conservatives do best.

- If any independents get elected, they get to work solely on fairly provisioning our discretionary spending and public infrastructure.

- These changes are unilateral. The GOP cannot appeal, oppose or amend the Dem's tax changes. Likewise, the Dem's cannot protest or fight to change the GOP's minimized entitlements and Soc Sec.

Each side makes the most painful concession it ever has, but each side also gets to fix it's chief complaint.

Democrats lose, Republicans lose, America wins and the budget is balanced. US's credit rating is back to not sucking. We have a little excess money we could do some silly little things *sarcasm* with, like fund public education, state and city governments, public works and law enforcement. Any takers?

P.S. - The president's role? Improve our international standing and get our troops back home where we need them.

Put the Dems totally in charge of taxes with no chance for repeal??...What?
We'd all be taxed into oblivion!

In my plan, Dems have no incentive for overly high taxes, as they can't get any of that money into their entitlement programs .

Our political system is forever flawed from top to bottom. The only possible real change would require the people who benefit most from the system, the politicians and the corporations who fund them, to essentially come up with the reforming legislation and to actually work together to end their own greed and their sole goal of obtaining wealth and power. It's simply not going to happen.

My apologies ... I didn't realize we had Blogs, my eyes and brain just go straight to the threads. Probably should have got on my soapbox there.
