Nothing like a good conspiracy theory.
Perhaps it was the missing Nuclear bomb from 1958? Maybe they 'lost' it a bit further north than they realized. LOL For 50 Years, Nuclear Bomb Lost in Watery Grave : NPR |

Standing room only at L.A.X. I trade my ticket for some cigarettes I won't believe it till they dissapear [sic] The president's hiding on a submarine See how he runs away from history I won't believe it till they dissapear [sic] I won't believe it till I dissapear [sic] Chorus: After all we've been through Doesn't it seem a little funny to you We should all shine from the violet blue And now we're calling you From the greenhouse All of the warriers have gone away I sit and watch the sky, waiting for the rain I won't believe it till I dissapear [sic] I won't believe it till I dissapear [sic] I won't believe you till I dissapear [sic] Chorus |

Used Nuclear Fuel and High-Level Radioactive Waste
A typical nuclear power plant in a year generates 20 metric tons of used nuclear fuel. The nuclear industry generates a total of about 2,000 - 2,300 metric tons of used fuel per year. Over the past four decades, the entire industry has produced about 65,200 metric tons of used nuclear fuel. If used fuel assemblies were stacked end-to-end and side-by-side, this would cover a football field about seven yards deep. Due to historic activities typically related to radium industry, uranium mining, and military programs, there are numerous sites that contain or are contaminated with radioactivity. In the United States alone, the Department of Energy states there are "millions of gallons of radioactive waste" as well as "thousands of tons of spent nuclear fuel and material" and also "huge quantities of contaminated soil and water." Despite copious quantities of waste, the DOE has stated a goal of cleaning all presently contaminated sites successfully by 2025. The Fernald, Ohio site for example had "31 million pounds of uranium product", "2.5 billion pounds of waste", "2.75 million cubic yards of contaminated soil and debris", and a "223 acre portion of the underlying Great Miami Aquifer had uranium levels above drinking standards." The United States has at least 108 sites designated as areas that are contaminated and unusable, sometimes many thousands of acres. Know how the New Cue Lar Regulatory Agency has em' clean up spills? Kitty litter and diesel. We're at the outer limits of human knowledge but they act like they have it under control. Get a clue humans. Turn off the phuckin nukes. Jesus Christ, humans are stupid. |
