Italians... Good with Art and food. Not so much with sniper rifles.

Army soldiers to get powerful new Swedish-made tank-stopper The U.S. Army is bringing in the really, really big guns. Regular units will soon be issued a Swedish-built "recoilless" rifle that can fire an 84-mm. projectile nearly a mile and has the power to take out a tank. The 15-pound guns, which soldiers hold just above the shoulder to fire, were previously only issued to Special Forces. But after soldiers in Afghanistan repeatedly complained that insurgents were wise to the limitations of their M-16 rifles, the Pentagon has decided to make the Swedish-made Multi-Role Anti-Armor Anti-Personnel Weapon System (MAAWS)-- or the M3 Carl Gustaf for short-- standard issue. “This weapon system is a game changer for the American warfighter," John Belanger, a spokesperson for Saab, which manufactures the gun, told FoxNews.com. “Additionally, the M3 will provide our soldiers a cannon-caliber weapon that will reduce the dependence and cost associated to artillery and air support. Commanders now can deploy his units to any combat environment without overburdening his soldiers or need to trade lethality for portability." read more | |

Re: The Firing Pin (Gun thread)
While out walking along the edge of a bayou just below Houma, Louisiana with my soon to be ex-husband discussing property settlement and other divorce issues, we were surprised by a huge 12-ft. alligator suddenly emerging from the murky water and charging me with its large jaws wide open.
She must have been protecting her nest because she was extremely aggressive. If I had not had my little Beretta Jetfire .25 caliber pistol with me, I would not be here today! Just one shot to my estranged husband's knee cap was all it took! The gator got him easily and I was able to escape by just walking away at a brisk pace. It's one of the best pistols in my collection! Plus... the amount I saved in lawyer's fees was more than worth the purchase price of the gun. |

Re: The Firing Pin (Gun thread)
A dog lover, whose dog was a female and in heat agreed to look after her
neighbors' male dog while they were on vacation. She had a large house and believed that she could keep the two dogs apart. However, as she was drifting off to sleep she heard awful howling and moaning sounds, rushed downstairs and found the dogs locked together, in obvious pain and unable to disengage, as frequently happens when dogs mate. Unable to separate them, and perplexed as to what to do next, she called the veterinarian. Although it was late, he answered in a very grumpy voice. After having explained the problem to him, the vet said, "Hang up the phone and place it down alongside the dogs. I will then call you back and the noise of the ringing will make the male lose his erection and he will be able to withdraw." "Do you think that will work?" she asked. "It just worked for me," he replied. |

Re: The Firing Pin (Gun thread)
Ok. Now, I usually don't liken a gun and a toy nowhere in a disscussion about firearms.
HOWEVER; I recently got a GSG (German Sporting Guns) 522. This is a "HK MP-5" look-a-like chambered in .22LR. It's so much "a like" that HK sued them and I think they will have to stop making the rifle. My summary of the rifle can be summed up in one word: DAMN! Please excuse me while I say this, but this is the definition of a Toy for Big boys if there ever was one. Holy cow, this thing is just plain fun to shoot. My oldest daughter(17) loves it. She is a semi gun nut and the no recoil is right up her alley. It is an accurate little gun; 50yrd targets are dead on accurate. I havent been able to shoot it farther than 50 yrds. If you are looking for a TRUE "fun" gun and have about $400-$500 and nothing else to do with it.... Buy this rifle. Make sure you get a couple of extra mags and at least a 1,000 rounds of 22LR. P.S. It doesn't matter what ammo you get. This little rifle eats whatever it's fed. |
