Enjoyed the Post. I've often wondered what the bayous and marshes of SW Louisiana looked like when the group that Beasoliel Broussard led first set foot on the west side of the Atchafalaya.

If you like this sorta thing, I've a good friend who's wife runs a web site that focuses on all things "old west".

I'm happy to post the link with Halo's approval - it is a 'for profit' site, but much there is free.

I was just in Green River this past weekend coincidentally ...

... stayed at a hotel located right in front of these formations.

Those are some beautiful photos. Shows you why people would be willing to head out west.

People went West for Gold and Oil.... As beautiful as those pictures are, they are not going to support much life.
