The one band that comes to mind more than any from the 70's-90's is Pink Floyd. I'm prejudiced when it comes to them, because they are my all-time favorite band. However, their music had ultimate staying power and Dark Side of the Moon holds the record for the longest two separate stretches on the Billboard 200. From 1973 to 1988 (736 weeks) and then a later run for 759 weeks. That is nearly 1500 weeks on the charts. That is a feat that will probably never be duplicated. Un-effin'-real!
