Re: 2017 Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame
Had to vote for The Zombies.
Time of the Season's - What's your name? Who's your daddy? is one of the great All-Time lyrics... Also voted for The Cars - my favorite on this list. Impressive diversity, range in their songs. Personally, still see Phoebe Cates in my dreams when I'm listening to Moving in Stereo at bedtime... Just What I Needed, My Best Friend's Girl, Let The Good Times Roll, Let's Go, It's All I Can Do, Shake It Up, Since You're Gone, You Might Think, Magic, Hello Again, Tonight She Comes - just the absolute sheer volume of hits is awesome... The Cars had the most unforgettable album covers featuring the 80's party girl - those were just classics; hell you could hang them on your wall as art! And they were the standard during the Music Video Explosion from the late 70's through the 80's; despite that influence, they never took themselves too serious, often poking fun at themselves... Drive is probably my favorite and it just gets more and more powerful as the years climb; man, I really miss Benjamin Orr who just died too young... The Moody Blues gets you as close to a hallucinogenic without actually having to drop it. Besides nothing tells the girlfriend what's about to happen than the extended version of Nights in White Satin... Nice to see MC5 aka Bounty Hunters get a mention; there was some incredible talent there, just too damn wasted to make the next step and really radical in their politics; but they were really ahead of their time and influenced of people... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Depeche Mode, Dire Straits, Judas Priest, Moody Blues, Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
The Cars are the odd band out. I like them and they had their own unique approach but it just feels like their career was a bit short, if they had had another strong album or two they would have made my ballot. Maybe next year. Disappointing Styx isn't on the ballot again. They outsold most of the nominees on this list and had plenty of iconic songs. The music from their first 5 records before adding Tommy Shaw is also quite underrated. |

Re: 2017 Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame
Oh I'm just tired of Bon Jovi. I saw him in concert in 1980-something. It was a glorified pep rally. I came for Rock N Roll. Cinderella opened and wiped the floor with Bon Jovi far as I'm concerned.
But nothing against the guy. He's iconic. I just hate seeing the originators...the true artists...get passed by year after year after year after year. All the blues guys got shoved aside when the British Invasion happened. The Hall at least nominates some of the lesser-knowns, but they don't get the love they deserve. Jon will have his turn. I just think there are equally/more deserving people in line ahead of him is all. Jon's just tryin' to make a living...I respect that. LOL |
C'mon Man...
