The officials in the NFL are part time. The game moves fast. They are going to make mistakes. OPI is just one of those calls that is under enforced. There's nothing nefarious about that. I gave you several concrete reasons why fixing NFL games would be virtually impossible in today's world. |

Re: Cowgirls vs. Tampons
There are two types of substance violations - PED and substance abuse. Two different sets of rules. Collins would have to have been dinged for some recreational drug. And it wouldn't have been his first. They get an initial warning and placed in "the program". I don't think the five game suspension takes place until the third violation.
Onyemata got hit by the PED version which carries an immediate six game suspension for what was likely a tainted supplement. Both are over the top, but the NFLPA signed off on it in the latest CBA. |

Re: Cowgirls vs. Tampons
I grew up on a cattle ranch and my father loved the Cowboys. However, Jerry Jones killed my daddy's Cowboys and now I root for them to lose. I still want to see Tampa lose every game though.

Re: Cowgirls vs. Tampons
My concrete reasons are completely logical and based in fact. The NFL has nothing to gain and everything to lose by rigging games. The NFL receives the same revenue regardless of who wins any given game. It is the networks that benefit by better matchups. However, a scandal involving fixing games could cost them billions and land dozens of individuals in the federal pen.
As I also pointed out, gambling authorities have divisions that do nothing but investigate possible improprieties including fixing of games. That's basically what brought down the referee scandal in the NBA several years ago. There is even a greater reason why it is impossible to get away with fixing games. Every official would have to be in on it. Everyone in the league office would have to be involved. Everyone would have to keep it secret. You know that is impossible. I understand the frustration, but it is not because the games are rigged. It is the officiating. Pure and simple. And I will readily admit THAT is on the NFL and could be addressed by fulltime officials and greater use of replay. |

Motive is not the issue. The issue IS that there is no way to get away with intentionally rigging NFL outcomes. It cannot be done without being exposed. |
