More talk about Minny to L.A.
Two different groups interested in bringing an NFL team to Los Angeles have approached the Minnesota Vikings about possible relocation, Vikings vice president of public affairs Lester Bagley said in a chat on the team's website Tuesday.
"We have been approached by two different groups in Los Angeles -- the Ed Roski group and more recently by former Timberwolves CEO Tim Leiweke and AEG," Bagley said in the chat. Bagley said team owner Zygi Wilf and Vikings management toured L.A. Live, an entertainment complex located in the city's downtown area, in 2009. According to Bagley, the group was looking for ideas on building a similar entertainment district in Minnesota. The Vikings are in their final year of their lease at the Metrodome and have been pushing to get a new stadium approved. Two L.A. groups have shown interest in Minnesota Vikings - ESPN Los Angeles |

I've personally been to the metrodome twice and it's probably the worst, most out-of-date venue in the NFL. The organization has bounced back and forth with the state of MN on who should fund a new stadium.
I think it's unfortunate because the Vikings have a solid fan base of die hard fans and it's a storied organization original to the NFL. The economy is horrible and governments are not going to contribute to stadiums or other luxuries when state jobs are being cut. The timing couldn't be worse... or maybe not. I also do not see California doling out big bucks to attract the Vikings- it will all have to come from private funds. I think the Vikings are using this as a threat to build a new stadium in Minnesota but if they leave Minny, it would be a crying shame! I hate to see this happening. |

I'd hate to see it too for the reasons you mentioned, but let me also say that after enduring all the "Satins to San Antonio" drama from a few years ago, I'm relieved that the speculation is about someone else's team and not ours.

I agree 100% Halo. I would hate to see any team go to Los Angeles. They've already had two teams there and couldn't keep them. Besides, It just wouldn't be right...The Los Angeles Vikings.
I'm still not used to the St Louis...Uh... I mean the Arizona Cardinals. |
