I agree, however "who cares about what" goes both ways.
The league cares about $ The players care about $ It is pretty hypocritical for either party to throw stones. As far as the league caring about safety? If they really cared about the safety of the players, everyone would have to wear thigh pads, knee pads, hip pads, tail bone pad. Also shoulder pads would not be shrinking. I suppose none of the analysis that the NFL employs have enough intelligence to realize that players are getting bigger and faster, and allowing them to not wear "pants pads" to be a little faster or quicker, means they are hitting harder, with more velocity... If you want to take some of the hit injuries out, pad them up and slow them down a little. Old School: New School: This should keep the head and neck injuries from happening: |
