I'm all for it, but can't see him leaving Green Bay.

That would make our LBer's pretty dang good. I'm all for it. I guess the key question is can we afford to sign him with us having so many FA's? I would like to see Loomis bring him into the fold.

Packers released ILB AJ Hawk.
ESPN's Adam Schefter broke the news, and shortly thereafter predicted that Hawk would "return (to Green Bay) with a new deal -- soon." The Packers simply had to make the move now, or risk having to guarantee Hawk $10 million for the 2011 season. Unlike players with expiring contracts, however, Hawk is free to sign elsewhere immediately and will certainly want to max out his earnings. He led the Super Bowl champs in tackles last year. What makes this so interesting is that the Saints were so interested in him when we drafted Bush. I think he will take offers from other teams before signing with the Packers. If so, we stand an excellent chance since he pretty much already know what the Packers are willing to pay him.
Loomis, Payton and Williams can be tough to say no to. Still, doesn't he play Mike? Where is he going to start? |

I'm wondering why the Packers would release him? If they are going to sign him to a new deal (as predicted) they should be able to just do so without the need for the release. What am I missing?

He's an upgrade over the garbage that flank Vilma, Greg would find a spot for him, sounds crazy coming from me but I'd cut Bush for Hawk in a heart beat
