I was disgusted with Sapp for that. You wanna play nasty....that's fine. But, I believe there is a difference between nasty and cheap.
What Sapp did was cheap and the Warner ordeal was cheap, too.
You can kinda liken it to laying out a defenseless punter. Is it legal? Yes. Is it dirty and cheap? Yes.
I think the above should fall under a sportsmanship sort of doctrine, if you will.
There is an NFL rule that if the QB isn't trying to participate in the play, he is a defenseless player and can't be blocked.
If he is trying to participate in the play, then he's is 100% eligible to be hit just as hard as anyone else on the offense. Its called football. Tampa Bay used to know what that meant.
Do you want to just put buccaneer-orange skirts on QB's so no one hits them ever?
