Replacement Referees still getting a paycheck
If you remember the article I wrote on the NFL signing the replacement referees to officiate through week 5, then this should come as no surprise.
The NFL has decided to pay all 121 replacement referees for officiating in week 4, despite the fact that the regular officials will be officiating all of the games. There is no word yet on if the NFL will also pay them for officiating week 5 games , per their original agreement, but I can speculate that the answer would be yes. A new collective bargaining agreement was agreed upon by the NFL and NFLRA early thursday morning. Voting on the ratification of the new agreement took place Friday and Saturday.
