The only obvious plays for Tebow are Flea Flicker, Direct Snap to Tebow, Brady hands the ball off to Tebow, Tebow goes in motion lines up the slot and runs a route Brady throws to Tebow. Tebow lines up in the slot Brady laterals to Tebow. Tebow throws downfield.

Re: Patriots sign Tim Tebow

The Patriots signed Ocho-cinco a few years ago also....... Addai didn't make it past the conditioning test. Joey Galloway was gone before the Pats picked him up..... They pick up cheap people... Not always people in their prime or that work out.

Anyway

Tim must have had a change of heart, I've always heard he refused to play anything but QB. He won't be playing QB in NE. He is an athlete but I still do not see where he is big enough to take on a line backer, fast enough or strong enough to get separation as a TE. I think Tim's problem in the NFL is that he is so well rounded he doesn't actually excel at anything.

He is listed at 6 ft 3 in and 236lbs, while that doesn't make him huge it is still enough to be effective and if he would play TE he has room to put on another 15-20. He clocked in at 4.71 before he was drafted but we all know how much 40 times matter. The kid can play football, there is no doubt about it.

Good points all, I tend to agree and still remain a little skeptical of Tebow ... but ... if there's one team/coach in the league that could make it work, it would have to be New England. They have the time & the resources to find a way to use/develop his talents.

They don't need him at QB, but he could apprentice under Brady/Mallet and maybe develop into an NFL caliber quarterback. Belichick is creative, Tebow is young. It would take an organization like NE with a H/C like Belichick to finally convince Tebow that if he wants an NFL career, he's going to have to be a little more flexible on what position he plays.

Tebow is a "team-guy" and landing a roster spot on a perennial contender that doesn't need him to be the 'man' or trot him out there for ticket sales might just be the remedy for all his NFL woes.

I gotta' think if he wound up on any other team in the NFL it'd still be 'Tebow-mania', but with the Pats he just might have a legitimate shot at an NFL career ... albeit as a backup QB or at another position.

Stay tuned ...

Re: Patriots sign Tim Tebow

heck Sean Payton could have made him productive.
I just don't think I'd want him around with all the extra media attention he brings... we don't need it.
I think the guy will excell in NE. They'll find him a spot and could you imagine in a few years the guy developes an arm?

That organization will look genious! and if it doesn't work out... thanks for trying.

Either way good luck to him

Ill take a more grounded approach.

Albert Hanesworth and Chad Johnson have proven that Bill and the patriots are fallible, and I think they may be buying into their own hype a little too much.

The Patriots flops since 2000.
patriots - Dirty Dozen: The 12 worst free agent signings of the Bill Belichick Era - WEEI | Christopher Price

So lets get past the Belichick can do anything with anyone.

Tim Tebow - Extremely athletic, extremely driven, excellent character, very likeable and nice guy...

For me, that is where it ends, there are a lot of very likeable nice guys that are very athletic that just don't cut it in the NFL. He is a possible Jack-of All but a master of none, and the NFL requires some mastership.

QB - Two teams have decided he is not worth a starting or BU QB spot. Actually I could argue a lot more as long as he has been a free agent and no one has picked him up.

H-Back or TE - Athleticism to me does not translate to a guy that has played QB all his life being able to block as an H-Back or has hands to catch as a TE. Sorry it just doesn't prove anything to me.

Another spin is a guy that has played QB for all of his College and NFL career is going to beat out professional players that have played TE and H-Back for years and have proven they are able to play at a professional NFL level? Is Tebow going to beat out Gronk, Hernanadez, Hoomanawanui, Fells? Personally I would not spend the time needed to coach Tim to be able to play those positions because it takes the attention away from proven players that need to get ready for a season.

Saints fans want to keep Henderson because of how valuable he is at blocking but want to say Tebow can just walk on the field and block for the Pats?

This is nothing more than Belichick rolling the dice on a cheap player, hoping something out of the ordinary happens so he can put a feather in his cap. Tim Tebow on the Patriots roster does not increase their chances of winning football games. He really should do as a lot of people have said, go to the CFL.

Re: Patriots sign Tim Tebow

I heard yesterday forgot who it was on ESPN radio that if you expect tebow to beat out other TE's who's played that posistion for years is a knock on TE's..

I somehwat disagree. How much experince did Jimmy Graham have or Tony Gonzales? They were all basketball players right?

The guy is a solid football player. Given a chance which he'll get a fair one I think he could excell.
