"Tebow's not bigger than the team in New England."

I seem to recall the Saints dominating the Patriots on their way to that super bowl win. We have their number. Teepro doesn't change that reality. They ain't got a prayer with or without that preachy alter boy. As much as he prays, you'd think he'd have a ring already. Guess the success ratio of prayer isn't all that it is cracked up to be.

A yuppie brat won't help the patty cakes. Par for the course, however.

In my opinion that says a lot.
Absolutely right ... they see enough in him to take a chance, but not enough in him to make a commitment. It's make-or-break time for young Tebow.

Duly noted and the '09 season/people's religious affiliations aside, the topic of the thread is merely speculation on Tebow's signing with the Pats. Whether or not he'll have an impact on the team, and specifically vs the Saints, remains to be seen and will probably be a good topic for another thread, some day.

<sigh> ... I'm talking about Tim Tebow ... it is truly the "offseason", .

Which is why I take the under. Belichick has found a cheap project, if it fails.... no loss.... If it succeeds well he will be known as the man that did what no other could. The contract tells me even Belichick doesn't have more than a 50/50 expectation if success.

I find it hard to believe you would say this considering you seem to be a fan of a show that has Christian morals.

not only the show has Christian morals; but the man in his profile pic is a diehard Christian.

Re: Patriots sign Tim Tebow

This is one of the best signings this week that could happen to me. Just in case we don't go back next year, at least there's a team that can now beat Atlanta. I started feeling that Manning is a puppet by Elway and it would cause him to lose again, even to Atlanta because Gonzo had a bigger reason to win than Manning. Now New England will be the first underdog to unravel Denver. I know this is a wierd way of studying football but its how recent championships are won. The last four, even the saints in 09, have been underdogs. The steelers were the only ones who weren't in the last eight years. Thats because that was the year they chased history that was deserving given their length of playoff relevance.

Even Choup's "hello" when answering the phone is tongue in cheek.

Re: Patriots sign Tim Tebow

Contract Details
Tim Tebow's contract includes base salaries of $630,000 (2012) and $730,000 (2013)

Tebow can earn up to $2 million in playing-time incentives in 2014, according to a person who has reviewed the details of the contract.

The person, who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity because the financial terms weren't to be disseminated publicly, said Tebow will earn the full $2 million only if he's on the field for 80% of the offensive snaps and the Patriots win 10 games or make the postseason.

Tebow will earn $500,000 if he participates in 60% of the plays in 2014, $1 million for 70% or $1.5 million for 80% of the plays without reaching the playoffs or winning 10 games.

Assuming Tom Brady stays healthy, Tebow's best chance at hitting those incentives would be his playing somewhere other than quarterback. There are no playing time incentives this year for Tebow, meaning he'll earn the same amount as a backup quarterback than he would earn as a contributor elsewhere.

Tebow is scheduled to earn a base salary of $630,000 this season. That salary has a "split" rate of $358,000 if he lands on injured reserve, meaning he'll be paid the lower rate for all weeks he's on IR. Tebow's 2014 base salary is $730,000, with a split rate of $398,000.

Including the $25,000 workout bonus next year, the maximum value of the contract is $3.385 million over two years. The base value (minus incentives) is $1.385 million.

And again, the minimum value if he's released before making the 53-man roster this year is $0.

Full details of Tim Tebow's contract

He is making a 3/year Vet's minimum at 630k

Re: Patriots sign Tim Tebow

Someone pointed out to me yesterday that none of Tebow's money was guaranteed & I was going to do a fact-check.

Thanks for doing the legwork there, Oak, .
