Riley Cooper to practice
well that didn't take long...
Wide receiver Riley Cooper, who had been excused from team activities after using a racial slur at a concert in June, was back with the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday and will practice with the team and play in its preseason game Friday against the New England Patriots, league sources said. The Eagles had excused Cooper on Friday and sent him for training after video of his remark, made at a Kenny Chesney concert in June, surfaced last week. The team said Sunday that Cooper informed the club of threats he had received on Twitter before the public release of the video and that he did not know who made them. The team has notified the league's security department. Cooper was fined by the Eagles after his slur became known Wednesday. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report. I would say the average person learned something the minute their face was splashed across the national news labeled as a racist. If I were a teammate and were offended, I would have to let a cooler head prevail and tell young Cooper.... "Maclin is out, what you said pisses me off, I don't like you but I need you, 1500 yards and 15 TDs from you this season would go a long way in helping me not remember your stupidity." BTW Eagles lost another WR yesterday. What it tells me is that the Eagles feel Cooper being at practice is extremely important to them. |

Oak was "spot-on" ... you may not like the guy next to you, but at some point you may need him to pull your arse out of a jam, so you tolerate the s.o.b. ... the more he comes through, the more you 'tolerate' him ... . |

Re: Riley Cooper to practice
It's fine. I'm tired of hearing about it. I never expected a grandiose punishment. Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith gave the type of dialogue I liked to hear.

Re: Riley Cooper to practice
I could care less.
The team handled it and he apologized. Not like we won't hear it again when we listen to music and watch TV. So its hard to get offended by something I hear everyday. |
