Riley Cooper to practice

well that didn't take long...

Wide receiver Riley Cooper, who had been excused from team activities after using a racial slur at a concert in June, was back with the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday and will practice with the team and play in its preseason game Friday against the New England Patriots, league sources said.

The Eagles had excused Cooper on Friday and sent him for training after video of his remark, made at a Kenny Chesney concert in June, surfaced last week.

The team said Sunday that Cooper informed the club of threats he had received on Twitter before the public release of the video and that he did not know who made them. The team has notified the league's security department.

Cooper was fined by the Eagles after his slur became known Wednesday.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report. Excused Riley Cooper at Philadelphia Eagles facility - ESPN

What bull****. What did he "gain" or "learn" in in 3 days. I a sure he will be welcomed back by every black defensive player he goes against.

What would you say is the time period for a proper learning?

I would say the average person learned something the minute their face was splashed across the national news labeled as a racist.

If I were a teammate and were offended, I would have to let a cooler head prevail and tell young Cooper.... "Maclin is out, what you said pisses me off, I don't like you but I need you, 1500 yards and 15 TDs from you this season would go a long way in helping me not remember your stupidity."

BTW Eagles lost another WR yesterday.

What it tells me is that the Eagles feel Cooper being at practice is extremely important to them.

Part of it may be due to the fact he was (allegedly) part of an extortion attempt Riley Cooper received tweets from videographers and everyone's in damage-control mode now, so why not take a few days off to diffuse the situation? I'm pretty sure he's learned a valuable lesson in what it means to be a celebrity/athlete in public and the time off undoubtedly served as a brief period of self-reflection on the way to him correcting in own personal dumbassness, .

Oak was "spot-on" ... you may not like the guy next to you, but at some point you may need him to pull your arse out of a jam, so you tolerate the s.o.b. ... the more he comes through, the more you 'tolerate' him ... .

It's fine. I'm tired of hearing about it. I never expected a grandiose punishment. Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith gave the type of dialogue I liked to hear.

I could care less.
The team handled it and he apologized.
Not like we won't hear it again when we listen to music and watch TV.
So its hard to get offended by something I hear everyday.
