STEVE SMITH
For some reason... I keep thinking he is going to end up a Saint...
|
Re: STEVE SMITH
*Vomits*..... Yuck. Even the thought of that leaves a horrible taste in my mouth.
|
Re: STEVE SMITH
He's a twerp, but he has given us fits for years. A little bit of his attitude might not be a bad thing for our offense.
|
Re: STEVE SMITH
It's bad but I've been having the same thoughts. Don't know why.

Re: STEVE SMITH
Well Sean seems to like him, if they think he can help the Saints win then I'm all for it besides the offense hasn't had swagger since Shockey left
|
Re: STEVE SMITH
How about Sanantonio Holmes ?
|
Re: STEVE SMITH
Keep him in the slot, small, agile and quick and does fight for extra yards. Attitude is absolute s@$t though

Re: STEVE SMITH
Sign him to a 1-year, $2 million dollar contract. Introduce him to the team. Have Cam Jordan punch him square in the teeth. Then cut his ass.
Dead money hit? Totally worth it. |
Re: STEVE SMITH
I personally don't care who he played for or how bad his attitude is, so long as he's not a locker room cancer.
If he can help us win games and win another Superbowl, I'm all for it and will gladly embrace him as a fan. |

I have a lot of people I like very much, wouldn't want them working for me. Shockey and Turley were alphas with stainless balls, Steve Smith is a punk. John Wayne is the only man to ever have swagger. |

Re: STEVE SMITH
I'd welcome that 'punk' into the Black & Gold with wide open arms.
And I'm not kidding. |
Re: STEVE SMITH
I read that his agent stated he will not play for Carolina this year. He also said that SS wants to play the slot receiver role.
He would be a great fit for us, especially in the slot! The guy may be bit of a punk but he can still play and has good hands. I would welcome him with open arms to the B & G! |

The enemy of my enemy is my friend approach it seems.

Ive learned not to question. If its good for the team and we can afford it it will be done.
|
Re: STEVE SMITH
I certainly think we need more receivers that can make plays down field. But I am concerned about our line. It does not matter who we have at the skill sets, if Drew does not have time to throw the ball it won't matter.
I don't mind Steve Smith on the Saints. But as its been said, as long as he is not a cancer in the locker room. Lots of veterans who might have been voices of reason are gone. |

Re: STEVE SMITH
Id love to have him here.Sean likes him and he has respect for Sean.
|
Re: STEVE SMITH
I keep recalling an after game conversation Smith and Payton had after a game. It seemed Payton was giving him a lot of love during it.
My second feeling is he is going to have a major chip on his shoulder if cut by the panthers. Look he's a punk because he played for a rival... he won't be racking up yac and TD's. We get a year out of him and also a lot of leadership on the WR side of the house with possibility of drafting a young WR as well. I am digging this move. |
Re: STEVE SMITH
Did we sign him yet?
|
Re: STEVE SMITH
He's a punk because he is a punk..... I don't see Gonzo, or Lynch as punks... Steve Jackson either.
|
Re: STEVE SMITH
I'm quite possibly the biggest Steve Smith hater in the world. For many reasons.
Dude makes my blood boil. That said, he provides value at the right price - when HEALTHY. I don't think there's much to what's been made of Sean's "appreciation" of Smith so i doubt he lands in New Orleans. BUT - he'd be a solid 1-2 year slot guy. |
Re: STEVE SMITH
Y'all crazy I would cut Colston for Smith and keep Sproles. Colston who I'm a big fan of his salary is bigger and Smith is a bigger impact on offense than is Colston.

Let me get this straight, you want to cut Colston for a guy who is going to be 35 years old when the season starts and didn't even have 800 yards last year despite being his team's only real receiving option? And who's leaving Carolina because their GM sees him as a distraction? And you think everybody else is crazy???? |

Re: STEVE SMITH
Y'all are flat out tripping ... Smith is one of the greatest receivers of the last decade or more ! Colstons good but you'll never mistake him for an elite receiver.
Our pass catchers and smith are cut from two very different cloths. Our Recivers depend on Drew beating coverage with laser accurate throws which is why they're non existent to a team with decent dbs. Because there is no seperation. Smith Beats coverage in his sleep ... Oh and Smith managed to do something not even Jimmy could do ... Beat Richard Sherman again and again ! Like I said we sign him and in 2 weeks he's easily our best Receiver and if we drafted Cooks or OBJ that's who I would want to rub off on them for years to come. He fits what we need in the slot as a guy who can definitively beat the oppositions best corner He fits what style we are transitioning to , physical grind it out smash mouth football. His attitude is perfect for what we are transforming the offense into. Play with a chip on your shoulder |

Well that would kill us more thn anything else Cutting Colston saves a whole $1.8ml |
Re: STEVE SMITH

Colston 64% catch percentage 63 touchdowns 435 first downs. Smith 56% catch percentage 45 touchdowns 366 first downs. Smith does have 100 more yards but it took 90 more targets to get there. PFF Wide receiver ratings have Colston over Smith 5 of the 7 years that they've been ranking. Smith doesn't play out of the Slot much and Colston's been one of the top slot receivers in the league over the last 5 years. I'd take Colston over Smith every day of the week. Course, I may just be tripping. :) |
Re: STEVE SMITH
I'm not "hating." I just hate SS because he's a mouthy show off reciever who acts like a damn child. No thanks. I'd rather the receiver who gets up every day and wants to play. Not the guy throwing a fit on the sideline because he "ain't getting the ball."
Ick. The thought makes me sick. And I have no idea why anyone would want him over Colston. Who's trippin? Not me. Hell let's give Terrell Owens a shot while we're at it. NO THANKS. |
Re: STEVE SMITH
cap issues aside that would take all season to try to get use too. even then i may not get there, Cheering for steve smith is hard enough to type much less do.
|
Re: STEVE SMITH
Mr. Utah has iced this cake quite nicely.
As pointed out, it's "trippin", not "tripping", one is done with your luggage and the other with your favorite paper or shroom. Fist bump me? |
