NFL Crime Statistics

As many football fans have been made aware of in the last few months, there is current distress in the NFL. This fact has been pointed out through the recent legal troubles of notable NFL players such as Ray Rice and Greg Hardy. The good thing is that these issues are now getting attention. The bad part is that these issues are JUST NOW being rectified! While some fans may realize there has been a long standing relationship between the NFL and poor personal conduct, others just follow what they see in the news.

Yep ... gettin' so bad, the Homeland Security Advisory System is thinking about adding a color-coded "NFL threat level" ... make it pink, maybe we can shame these guys straight!

That's impressive, and a little shocking really. I would have thought Dallas was way higher on the list.

Re: NFL Crime Statistics

I wonder how that chart would alter if you compared all men in the same income bracket.

NFL players by sheer revenue, probably don't live in "high crime" areas (I would assume) like a large majority of the adult men that swim in at least two of the above charts.

NFL players are also on a stage that when something like these do occur, it's no secret. News media feed on anything like this. Of course, it's very much the opposite of let's say politicians who commit the same crimes.

I'm sure it would look quite different. I would think that most wealthy men aren't violent, whereas violence (albeit controlled) is a resume enhancement for NFL players.

I also wonder how that chart would look if you compared the NFL and general public for only black males, or a comparison based on race ratio.

I also wonder how it compares to the NBA, MLB, NHL, NASCAR, Tennis, Golf and Soccer.

I think the NFL is getting a bad rap regardless.
