DEA performs NFL painkiller sweep
Could the Vicodin allegations against Payton be a part of this?
Visiting NFL teams were met Sunday by federal Drug Enforcement Administration agents Sunday as part of an ongoing investigation into the handling and distribution of prescription painkillers, ESPN reported. While no arrests were expected and search warrants not issued, per the report, a federal law enforcement official told "Outside the Lines" the inspections were motivated by allegations raised in a May 2014 federal lawsuit, filed on behalf of several prominent NFL players, who allege team physicians and trainers routinely gave them painkillers in an illegal manner to mask injuries and keep them on the field. Re: DEA performs NFL painkiller sweep
Separate lawsuit. Unrelated. This was an ex-players lawsuit and unrelated to the Saints.
But...in my own opinion, I think if folks want to look for larger conspiracy theories, ie someone is out to "get" pro football, or make trouble for the league, make the league look bad, cause scandals, create negative headlines, etc., using various tools of government to do so....well I think there you might be on to something. Seems like it started with the Redskins name thing; it sure seems like there is a lot more government antagonism or pressure instigated towards the NFL, as of late. |

Re: DEA performs NFL painkiller sweep
Also, it is kind of a little bit interesting to me, how everybody knew by game time that the DEA was hanging around in the locker rooms of visiting teams, and Marshawn Lynch stayed out on the field during halftime in KC, in obvious pain. He and the trainers didn't even try and go into the locker room at all, which to me was very odd.... Stayed out there all through the halftime show, even though it was freezing temps and Lynch in obvious pain. Meanwhile the DEA were inside, doing their thang in the ol' Seahawks visitin' locker room.
Gotta admit that to me, it looked kinda .... curious. I've never heard of a player (other than a kicker) staying on the field with an injury during halftime, have you? |

Interesting. Also, I wonder why ESPN didn't have the story plastered all over their Sunday and weekly coverage of the NFL. Oh wait, nevermind, that would be unbiased reporting. How stupid of me.
