It wasn't a promo event. He just randomly showed up at a pop warner game because he was passing by and saw them playing. Although you're right, it doesn't mean he's a good guy. But I'd take that as an indication of his character way before I judge him for showboating.

"I believe that a person should not be thought of as a bad person because of some senseless mistake that they made, " said Newton.

Grand theft, burglary, and obstructing justice are not a "mistake", they are serious crimes. He paid his debt to society but no way I would ever consider him a good person, reformed maybe but not good. A good person would never even consider committing those crimes.

I've got to disagree, because everybody has a vice or bad moments in life. If the judgement is this harsh then there are no good people in this world. I don't have a criminal record, but I've done bad things. That goes for most people.

It's unfortunate but he will always be a former criminal. There is no way around it. He'll never have to worry about obtaining a secret clearance or being trusted beyond playing a game but if he ever tried to go that route he would be rejected. In those terms he is a bad candidate. Being reformed with a good track record will also not change it.

A man always has the capacity to change and should be given every chance to do so.

Well said. Its called growing up.

I've done terrible things myself, but I've been forgiven and have learned from those mistakes and its made me a much better person today than I was 30 years ago.

I'm not convinced that Cam Newton has learned from his though. He still seems quite immature and self-centered. I don't think he's grown up one bit.

I could be wrong, but seldom am.:p

Cam Newton: 'soMEone is supposed to be dead or severly injured'

No.

I object.

As a former General Motors noise-vibration-safety & crash engineer, I strenuously object.

Looking at that vehicle, albeit a Dodge, it did exactly what it was designed to do in such a situation ... collapse around the cab and maintain a crush-free environment for driver & passengers. The National Transportation Safety Board requires a minimum 13 designated crash tests be performed on vehicles prior to being made available to the public, one being a 'roll-over' test. (GM conducts over 30, maybe consider that on your next purchase). There is room to live in those vehicles and as long as he was properly seat-belted in, he probably had more chance of being killed on the field than in a roll-over, just sayin',. Maybe don't put a lift-kit on the next one, eh?

But Cam probably doesn't know that, ... just "Cam being Cam", I guess. Maybe he could send some Subway coupons to the Safety & Crash guys out at the Dodge Truck Plant in Warren, MI or wherever they got that group now, :).

You were in a low-speed rollover Cam, nothing 'life-threatening' going on here ... don't make it out to be more than it actually was, ... god-speed getting well ... after Wk #17, ;).
