this is a discussion within the NFL Community Forum; Of course it sounds great, but having Lofton and Willis in the middle means nothing if our OLB are garbage....

Of course it would. It would solidify one part of the defence giving us greater flexibility in dealing with other problems.

I don't see how we could afford him but I would absolutly love to see him in Black and Gold. One of my favorite players in the leauge.

This makes no sense; why upgrade any position because another is weak?

With that train of thought, why worry about upgrading at all? One of our draft picks could be better than an existing player, might as well forfeit our picks too

Then your a crazy fool..... for two reasons....

Patrick Willis is better than any LB we have.... true
Patrick Willis is better than Jimmy Graham..... false

When you think about the niners defense since Willis has been on the decline I can get to three San Fransisco defenders who I fear more before I even mention him.... Both Smiths..... Justin <<< the real meat of the defense. Aldon<<< freak of nature but nothing without Justin Navarro Bowman<<< superstar LB.... and Willis <<< about to be on the wrong side of 30

Plus what makes a down year for a TE in our offense..... Lets see...

- battled shoulder all season
- no Oline help for routes that require time....
- no running back out of the backfield who can catch the ball in space to take the pressure off of Jimmy having to make every catch.... this is where he was most effective
- no Big Time Wr Threat.... Cooks is not Antonio Brown just yet.....

I wouldn't be so quick to trade Jimmy Graham unless you could get the same value in return....

You shouldn't throw stones if you live in a glass house, and if have a glass jaw you should watch your mouth..... cause I'll break your face!!! -50 cent

Graham aint' the best TE in the league, period. He is replaceable with the O that we run. He gets hurt every year missing multiple games a liablity in the run game and is as soft as pudding, if trading him for Willis makes me a fool for one if not the best ILB in the buisness I'm good with it. That love affair for Graham is just that a love affair looking at that over-priced ,ball dropping, game missing, non-agressive 265 pound jello pudding TE thru rose colored glasses and I'm the fool? o.k.

I recently read that Ahmad Brooks aka the Brees killer is unhappy in 49er land and his bags are packed...would be ecstatic to have either Willis OR Brooks. Instant upgrades at the LB position.

Re: Patrick Willis could be traded/released

Willis' numbers have been on the decline. This season, before getting hurt, he was on pace for his lowest totals since entering the league. He is getting long in the tooth, and although he is probably better than what we have, we will overpay for old talent. Just my opin
