Because it plays to that even 8th place gets a ribbon BS that is all the rave in youth sports. Look if you lose the coin toss and want the ball, how about you A) grow some balls and stop them or B) win in regulation. There's your 2 choices, and if you fail at both then you didn't deserve a shot to win in the first place

The one where everyone deserves a chance to win or feel like a winner ..... BS, what's the point of competition if you are going to make it fair for everyone and reward failure, NO.

If you couldn't win in regulation and you lose the coin toss, TS ... stop the other team and get the ball back if you want a chance to win

I can live with the old rules, but I just don't see the connection to pussification.

One thing I wouldn't mind seeing during a tie game, just play on. No need to stop, flip a freaking coin, and kick-off. Just keep playing until you have a winner.

Me likes auction.

Actually I think they should stop the game right there to stop the players getting injured.

Essentially that's what we have now, except it's the first to score a touchdown...

Not really, the team that has the ball keeps it and continues the drive they are on. It can help or hurt you and it's sudden death.
Maybe a two minute overtime warning and keep playing.

I wouldn't mind dropping the coin toss and just playing on. Here's a better idea, FIND a way to win in regulation
